Are there any students of history that remember that the Nazi party lost the election, only to take control?

of the government through fear and intimidation? And doesn't the recent attacks on elected officials after the healthcare vote give you pause for concern?

That's not entirely correct. Hitler lost the presidential election (to Hindenburg), but his party became the largest party in the legislature after the elections. Hitler became chanceler after Hindenburg appointed him to try to bridge the growing political divide, and then failed to control him.

Moral of the story: don't try to compromise with right-wing loons.

Apparently you aren't one, as the Nazis won the most seats in the Reichstag. They did use fear and intimidation to their advantage but you completely missed the part where they wont the election to begin with.

I don't like the attacks on elected officials, but let's not get carried away with our comparisons.

A fire set at Reichstag, an assembly location of the German Parliament, allegedly set by a communist

It will be a dangerous time to be a tea party member if they lose 60 seats in the house and 8 in the senate

Could you be more specific? Using real, corroborated examples? I agree that fear and intimidation should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law, but haven't seen any examples of it aside from some phone messages.

godwins law. and i've still not seen any proof to this. that being said, i wont deny that it is likely that a few fascist f*uckers will show up at some party protests but that doesnt make all republicans racists just like the ignorance of Biden doesnt get correlated with democrats or the hypocracy of Jesse Jackson to all blacks...

The country is being socialized to cooperate with the new constructs. It won't matter what the laws are for much longer, they'll just overlook them for the common good.

I would be more worried of this sort of thing coming from the Dems. They officially represent big government, after all. At least the GOP claims to be for smaller government.

You mean like the REP who had his window shot? Or the DEMs who got an email? The leftist did much worse than anything the dems are seeing now when Bush was in office but as ussual it was swept under the rug by the liberal media.

well fortunately most of the "attacks" ave been in the form of insulting phones calls and such and not organized revolt. that would be really bad.
