Can the current political situation be described as an attempt to expand Roman Empire?

I used to believe that war was about oil; then I graduated from that school of thought and realized war was about empire. During World War 2, Nazi Germany was described as the "Third Reich". Considering the fact that the first two "reichs" were the two peak points of Roman empire, and considering the existence of historical conflicts such as the Roman-British wars (which is one example of the use of "proxy" countries--everyone sees Britain [and America, my home country] sending troops around the world and hates these countries instead of the Roman imperialists who have infiltrated them), why doesn't anyone follow the historical chain of power back to the Vatican?

I would never insult someone who is a follower of Jesus, so let me make my understanding clear: the struggle for power in the middle east, southern europe... basically, the world at large. goes back to "religion"... the Jewish/Roman wars (I should insert for anyone who doesn't know that, at least originally, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam are all monotheistic, meaning they teach the existence of one God) were fought because the societal implications of realizing the interconnected nature of all existence was not conducive to maintaining a Roman pagan society, where women who got married could legally be murdered by their husbands at any time and the requirements for participation in their brand of "democracy" were stringent at best... anyway, you had one of the most powerful armies on the face of the earth, fighting bands of believers of God in waves... the Christians and the fall of Rome, anyone?? It's pretty obvious that when the Romans couldn't defeat their enemies, the Christians (Jesus was a Jew, remember?) rather than beat 'em, they joined 'em, and created the Roman Catholic Church, which is ritually pagan in nature, and has sort of devolved into a hierarchical system of ritual satan worship, which is coming to a head now with the ritual child molestation and rape charges all over the place... so to counter the believers in God, the only strategy these people appear to have is one of a reflexive counter strategy, where they struggle to maintain separation of culture/proliferation of certain moral ideology (like the prohibition of interest in banking, which everyone should now be able to admit would save us all) by promoting materialism and violence and casual sex to counter people more inclined to live humbly and refrain from supporting lifestyles or companies that are willing to f*** over humanity at large just to maintain themselves.

Is it just me, or does it look like we're in for WW3 right quick yo

I'm thinking they're going to use Israel (which I see as a really convenient way to round up the rest of the Jews that they didn't succeed in killing during WW2) to launch a weapon against Iran. Then all the Muslims won't take very long to kill the Jews, who make up like 0.2% of the world's population or something... then the world can say, Hey Look, the Muslims are the new Nazis! Let's get 'em all!!!!!! Roman pagan strategic aims, anyone??

Don't make yourselves look like idiots if you're going to respond to my question; please have some sort of substance rather than empty opposition. Thanks for reading, not everyone does :D

I am an older Christian .

But I will say this - so far every religion has been corrupted through out the ages because of greed and the desire for power and domination. There are no exceptions .

I believe ( think ) that both good and evil right now are like salt and pepper that has been tossed together . Impossible for human kind to separate . It would certainly take divine intervention.

Because there is good and bad every where . No people as a whole can claim they are with out sin . No person can claim that either .

In the Christian Bible it says - Let the Angels do the harvesting - least you pull out the Good as well as the Bad.

The Second Reich was led by Otto von Bismarck, having nothing to do with the Roman or Holy Roman Empire. In fact, Bismarck was a devout Lutheran.

We may one day have a third world war and it may very well pit Christians against Muslims but i doubt the Holy See will be doing anything other than trying to prevent it.

Interestingly, there is more that unites Jews, Christians and Muslims than divides us as compared to Eastern religions and philosophies. The key to a peaceful world is secular government, tolerance and global free trade. People who trade fairly with each other don't tend to fight.

Tim M. Jesus was most certainly a Jew--born, lived and died as one.

The Bush doctrine was specifically about Empire - using preemption to keep America as the sole superpower following the fall of the Soviet Union.

...however, this had nothing to do with any Church. The drive to make all of Muslims the enemy when only a particular branch attacked America on 9-11 was simply a way to tie Iraq into the retaliation, when Al Qaida was actually an enemy of the secular Saddam Hussein. And Iraq was a target even before 9-11.

Rumsfeld did expect to get oil from Iraq - incompetence does not disprove intent. He said Iraq would "pay for itself" and intended to sell the nationalized Iraqi oil fields to the highest bidder( Halliburton) in order to pay for reconstruction (Halliburton)

Sadly - Churches, with their hierarchical structure and authority are sometimes prone to corruption.

I was beginning to think you had an interesting thesis there until I kept reading.

Wars are fought over many things. It is a simplification to attribute them solely to one cause, like resources, religion, or empire.

The United States spends as much on its military as the rest of the world combined and could nuke the planet into oblivion with the push of a button. It has no interest in seeing a war in the middle east, and it wouldn't need a proxy to attack Iran if it was inclined to do so. We do not like to occupy foreign countries and are no threat to any country that does not threaten our security or trade or that of our allies.

They expanded with military force (ex. Republic conquered Carthage using the three units of hastati, principes, and triarii in the triplex acies formation *checkerboard formation*.) They conquered usually without too much destruction however several incidences do point out that at times they could be extremely brutal and inhumanely cruel. (Boudicca and the Iceni for example) They held their provinces by 1. Keeping troops in the province 2. Obtaining allies around the province to help protect it 3. In the later years they bribed enemies and allies alike to not attack.

I'm Catholic. Your post is offensive and ignorant.

The "evil" Vatican has spoken out numerous times against Israel's crimes against humanity. The "evil" Vatican spoke out against the Nazi's and the Communists. Why do you think the media has died down on their whole "Nazi pope" business? Because there is too much evidence that shows it's not true! Even the Jewish newspapers have advised Jews to give it up.

We aren't pagan, and there is no ritual child abuse. There are sinners that committed child abuse, and bringing up 30+ year old cases and plastering the media with it is a diversion tactic by Jews because Israel is in hot water right now.

They love playing on anti-Catholic bigotry to divert attention away from themselves. And you fell for it.

well first of all when you think about it Jesus was not a Jew. Judaism is the same as Christianity with the exception of Christians believe Jesus was the messiah, witch he believes also.

i do believe that we are in for a WW3 but cant every prewar situation thought history be compared to the roman empire?

Catholics rituals are not pagan. we'd have to believe in multiple gods for that and we only believe in one.

History does not repeat it self; it is linear not circular.
