Windows XP not detecting USB devices?

Recently whenever I plug a USB device (flash drive, iPod) into the computer, nothing happens. I have Windows XP w/ Service Pack 3. How do I fix this?

I've had a couple USB ports just simply wear out from overuse. Try one of the other ports (especially those on the back). If you find one that works, you might want to pick up a cheap USB 2.0 hub and start plugging the USB devices you attach and detach a lot into that (and plug the USB hub into a working port). That way, if those ports wear out, you can just get another hub.

The USB ports are ineffective. in specific circumstances the case might desire to have a USB in front besides the incontrovertible fact that it finally ends up in no longer something on the interior.Open the case & examine Your plug on the interior might desire to no longer be plugged in. in case you have a warrant, take it lower back besides the incontrovertible fact that they might refuse in case you already opened the case or tampered with the machin in different techniques.
