On invasions of Europe...?
Could it ever be done?, could anyone ever have conquered it?
Both the huns and Mongols took the same route and were bogged down in Germany, Napoleon and Hitler tried to invade Russia, Ottomans are beaten by the Austrians and the Romans just gave up half way through. Did they all make mistakes or is Europe unconquerable?

excuse my bad english
the huns came from the north east, the mongols from the south east. the huns invaded most of east europe, the mongols stopped near vienna, because they need a new khan (king)
hitler -> germany and napoleon -> france both are europe countries
ottomans were stopped near vienna by a big alliance of european monarchs
the romans conquert everything west of the river rhine
there is no similarity between any of these situation, not in time, way, target, etc.

The allied forces didn't really "invade" Europe to start the War. Hitler and The Axis Powers did. But the allies stormed the beaches of Normany, France to seriously lay the smack down on the Germans, back in 1944. This is the first 30 minutes of Saving Private Ryan with all the nonstop gunfire.

Conquering an area can happen, but holding onto it is a matter of developing a way of maintaining the hold. There will always be a countering force whether internally or externally. There has to be a reason for conquest such as raw materials or a sight to maintain control of a travel route on land or by sea.
