I saw you coming! Since you've taken time out frm your busy schedule (as if, you're on yahoo answers wasting time with the rest of us) to visit my profile I thought I may as well take the time to write one....and here it is no only joking I will actually say something about me rather than you... Male, English of Irish and French ancestry, sixth former so I know very little about the ways of the world , I should'nt ever be voted best answer over older, more experienced people then but alas, it happens. Add me as a friend, I won't care, contact me, I might not respond, stalk me, I'll laugh.
Why does America have so many overseas bases?
I can obviously see why there are troops in Iraq, Afghanistan, somalia and such. But why is the US expanding its airbases in Italy? what is that helping? why are there in fact any bases in western Europe at all, isn't the cold war over? What is the point of putting thousands of marines in Australia what the hell are they doing?
Its not as if America hasn't got the variety of terrain neccessarry to train its troops for everyting and its not as if these countries havn't got powerful militaries capable of defending themselves. Why are there no simillar bases of European or asian troops in America?

I'm just curious. Does anyone know where the first permanent settlement seems to have been? I'd have thought it would either be in Nigeria, Ethiopia or southern iraq.

Scotland uses more money than it produces, it has an efficient healthcare system and free university tuition, why would they need more money when northern England is taking the crumbs from the south easts' plate?
And how could they think Scotland would be better off without the rest of the UK?

1 AnswerHistory1 decade agoOn invasions of Europe...?
Could it ever be done?, could anyone ever have conquered it?
Both the huns and Mongols took the same route and were bogged down in Germany, Napoleon and Hitler tried to invade Russia, Ottomans are beaten by the Austrians and the Romans just gave up half way through. Did they all make mistakes or is Europe unconquerable?
3 AnswersHistory1 decade agoIs use of the word "gratuitous" a little gratuitous?
