um, YES! i would start with a new fuel filter aan air filter. those need changing anyway if you don't stay on top of things. fuel filter is hard to change but simple once you know how and you will be on your back for a few minutes unless you have a lift.

also, get some fresh gas after replacing the filter in a 3 to 5 gallon can and try her again.

check your motor oil level. if you don't stay on top of oil changes, you may need a change, and worse yet, you may be low or way low. check your oil!

now were getting complicated. you should pull a spark plug and see if it's fouled, (lot's of burnt carbon, or oil on it). you may need new plugs.

next we go to fuel injectors. IF you can get in running, run a can of fuel injector cleaner through her with a tank of gas.

after that we go to timing belt/chain and ignition system. both these issues are beyond me and you.

All cars have a "neutral start switch" that won't allow the engine to start unless the shift is in park or neutral. Maybe the is a good place to look, but I don't know much about cars-only to stay away from Chrysler products.

First go with Jim's answer, and if that doesn't work, go with Doorknobs answer and have a mechanic check your neutral safety switch. Had your problem with a 72 Ford F-100. It was the switch, but filters can cause the same problem.
