The leagues "Great Experiment" or things just coming together perfectly...?
While I will be one who roots for the Phoenix Coyotes to go as far as possible in the playoffs this year; (with the exception of my personal fav team); I cant help but think how legitimate their accomplishments may actually be.. Landing Tippett was the best thing that could have happened to the Yotes and that can be called a legit move.. They positioned themselves well all the way until the trade deadline--- again; Legit.. My concern in all of this-- the acquisitions made at the deadline that have seen them challenge for the conference title.. Granted-- they are still not to the salary cap after these, but these are not typical moves that a struggling franchise makes.. They are being ran by the NHL which is the ONLY THING that would make me question "Would this be an EARNED success?"
I want this team to succeed-- I want PHX to see attendance rise-- I want to see the underdog rise up that 1 game in 100 when it counts.. But through their own earned merit..
So--- Great experiment or right guys, right place, right time??
Just some pondering....

you want to see our attendence rise? last 4 games were all sell outs and all of our playoff games are expected to sell out as tickets for every game have been flying off the shelves.
as for the moves we made at the deadline, the nhl gave us a budget we had to stay under the whole year to be able to make any moves at the deadline. maloney said that he ran this team undermanned until the deadline so that he would meet this budget. we still had a budget we had to stay under after the deadline while making these moves, we still have the lowest salary in the nhl.
the city has accepted lease agreements with both ice edge and reinsdorf to keep the team here for the 24 years left on the lease. if both submissions pass a council vote on tuesday then the nhl will be able to pick one of the groups to sell the team to. the nhl will be selling the team for 160 million. they bought the team for 140 million and the team is expected to lose under 20 million. so infact the nhl will be getting back every penny plus a little more then they paid.

1) The NHL has NO say in the day to day operations of the franchise. Any move the Coyotes make that is a 'strain' on the budget, is voted on by the 25 teams NOT in their division. All other decisions are made by Don Maloney and friends
2) Attendance has risen greatly the last 10 home games, their best 10 game attendance run since 2003.
3) They did extremely well at last year's trade deadline as well landing Upshall, Lombardi, and Calgary's 1st rounder. They landed Lepisto, Vandermeet, Korpikoski, Vrbata and Lang before the NHL took over as well. So they've been changing the guard for a while now

I can see the concern, but the Coyotes were already a legit playoff team befor the deadline. In fact, I think you answered your own question--the moves made the Coyotes into a contender in the West. So I don't see anything atypical about that one. As for moves made before the season--the league wants to keep Phoenix in Phoenix, so they want to keep their fans onboard. That means focusing on the present instead of rebuilding.
As for the fact that they are being run by the NHL, I guess there is no way to prove either way if there are any shenanigans going on. But I don't see any real upside to fixing the league in favor of the Coyotes. Who would the NHL rather have in the Final, ratings wise? Detroit? Chicago? Even San Jose? Or would they rather have a southern team with very little following?

It's to the league's benefit to make the Coyotes competitive in the short run. It makes the team more attractive to buyers, and more important to Pee-Wee Herman...sorry, Gary Bettman...buyers that will keep the team in Phoenix and thereby justify what has always been a rather inane decision to move the team there (not that Winnipeg could support an NHL team either, but Phoenix is not a hockey town and has proven that).
So I'd go with Great Experiment in the league's eyes, foolish experiment otherwise.
And to the future owner of the team, whomever that may be...caveat emptor.

Like LITY said the NHL doesn't make personal decesions. And several moves last eyar (Upshall, Lombardi) have been key before the NHL took over
Also I'd reccomend removing the "First Account" statement from your username. Many trolls on here and it wouldn't be wise to "encourage them" IMO

because of fact the Muslim radicals could use the day as a farce and make their circulate, probably. as properly, i could desire to in no way provide a "thumbs up" to somebody getting 5-someodd virgins interior the afterlife for his kamikaze movements. the two atheists or christians could in all likelihood commence a controversy. i think of i could desire to get alongside with a Hindu or Buddhist, nonetheless. I wanna rub the Buddha abdomen.

i think the biggest move of all came before this long year started.. a little waiver pick up from the Ducks in the form of a goalie... They have been improved since then, but bry gives them a chance any night against any team...
