What are the difference between the two drive modes (D) in the auto transmission of Chevrolet Astro 1991?

High

I can not find such differences between the two drive-positions of auto transmission (one of the D in a square) of my old Chevrolet Astro Van , cause in some times the engine stops while im stopping the car by a break and the transmission in the drive position , thanks.

the two gear ranges are drive and overdrive. the overdrive has the square around the d. as for the stalling, check the loaded idle and see if that is close to spec. i think that it is too low and that is what is killing the engine. a simple tune up might be the solution along with setting base idle and timing.

d is automatic moving you initiate off in equipment a million you press the gasoline at around 3000 rpm that is going to shift for then you comparable ingredient in next equipment on 3 the transmission is locked in equipment 3 so which you strengthen up in equipment 3 that's sturdy for low torque purposes like ice or for supply up and flow making use of

THE DIFFERENT IS IT WILL REDUCE ENGINE LOAD AND YOU CAN SEE THE RPM CHANGES. IT ONLY WORK ABOVE 50 MPH. IF YOU DRIVE YOUR CAR IN D POSITION AT 55 MPH, SHIFT THE VEHICLE TO THE OTHER SQUARE D (OVERDRIVE) AND THE ENGINE SPEED WILL DECREASE OR THE RPM GAUGE WILL LOWER.

Years ago this was simply known as overdrive. It will give you better gas mileage at highway speed.
