I would run the machine empty in a very hot wash and put some Soda Crystals in the powder drawer.

I always dry of my door seal with a towel after using the machine and leave the door open for about an hour or more so the inside can dry out. My old Mum taught me that and I've never had a smell form the machine.

Could it be the drain is clogged. Check the outlet which is usually at the front of the machine just in case,

Hi, I tried to answer this earlier so apologies if you get a duplicate!

Clean the detergent drawer – a wipe over with a cloth should remove gunged-up bits of soap – try the trusty old toothbrush to get into fiddly bits.

Freshen up the machine by running it empty from time to time on a hot-wash programme with some washing-soda crystals or clear vinegar thrown in for good measure. This will remove odours and stop soap scum, limescale, mildew etc and leave the door of the machine slightly open after you've used it.

pour some thin bleach through the tablet drawer and into the drum, then put it on a 90 degree full wash, rinse and spin cycle. When your washer isn't being used, leave the door open to let it air and stop it going mouldy.

If the bleach doesn't get rid of the smell, put 2 steredent denture cleaning tablets in, let it fill with water and turn off, leave it over night for the tablets to dissolve then spin as normal.

Run it on a 60 degree wash once a week, with a cupful of white vinegar in the wash cycle. That kills off the bacteria that makes it smell.

run it once with 2 cups vinegar in the water---nothing else.

then---keep the lid (door) open when not in use, it needs to have air to PREVENT stale smell.

*if you don't have time to get wet clothes out of the washer when it is finished, don't do them. After 1/2 hour of sitting with wet clothes in it, it will start to smell stale again.*

Leave the door and soap tray ajar in future or at least after a wash.

Source(s): That is what is said on my new washing machine.

...run it once with a box of Baking Soda (Not the box...but the constance of the box)
