How long can you store unopened pipe tobacco for?

I'm looking to buy a half-dozen pouches of pipe tobacco duty-free and save them for a long time. If they are unopened, how many months will they reasonably last ?

What about sealed tins of tobacco, will they last longer ?

Any place I should put the tobacco to make it last longer, eg, fridge crisper ? basement ?

Do not put pipe tobacco in the freezer. You can cellar it in your basement in a cool dry place. Sealed mason jars work the best. If they are air tight you will be able to store them for many years to come.

They will last a good year or two. Keep it in the freezer and make sure it does not get freezer burned if that's even possible with tabacco.
