Anyone use prescription Royal Canin canned catfood?

There's been a new recall on PRESCRIPTION canned only, due to wheat gluten poisoned from China. This is the recent recall, posted 4/12/10 not the one from two years ago.

It's not Royal Canin's fault, the Mars manufacturer that produced it in Canada to avoid recalls in US products (Canada was supposed to be safe). This only affects the prescription food Medi-Cal Feline Dissolution Formula which is ONLY available through vets. At least 16 pets have died. The item is in a full recall.

Thanks, Hudson. I'll link to this on my Facebook page as well. But no - mine don't eat this.

edit: hey Hudson - apparently this warning was bogus - there's no recall. I posted this on a TICA forum and someone contacted Royal Canin and received this:

"> Thank you for your email, and your concern.

    >

    > Medi-Cal Royal Canin Veterinary Diet does NOT have any product recalled.

    > The link that you have attached is not current information. We will be in contact with this company to ensure that the information is removed.

    > The recall that affected North America was in April of 2007.

    > You can be assured that the product you are feeding is safe. To learn more about our safety in production, please go to our website medi-cal.ca and look on the FAQ section to read about our testing.

Thanks for the warning. We only used the dry Urinary SO. Since we lost our one cat that was on it, we have switched to Blue Buffalo dry (and other canned food). I don't do any of the RC canned foods - far too expensive.
