What's a good/cheap rifle for a first time deer hunter that would be easy to find in stores?
maybe a link to one in Cabellas or Bass Pro's website would remove any chance of confusion.

You have many good options. I'd suggest taking a trip to WalMart or Big 5 Sporting Goods (or similar). They always have the very popular basic (less expensive) models, and usually the most popular calibers. They both have great prices and can offer layaway, if cost is an issue. That way you can get your hands on it and feel how it handles in your hands.
You can also check Gunbroker.com and Buds Gun Shop online store, if you already know you like the model of gun. If you order online, and then don't like the way it feels in your hands -- it's a little too late. Cabelas.com is very good as well, but you'll get better prices on Gunbroker.com if you are buying online. Go to a gun store first, and handle a few Remington 700's, Savage's, or lever action Marlins -- the 336 or 1895 models, before you decide.
I would suggest either the Remington 700, or a Savage bolt action -- either in .270, .30-06, 7mm Magnum. Those are two of the most popular and well-liked rifles, and the three calibers are all well liked and popular as well. If you go into a WalMart or Big 5, these are the more affordable models you'll see, and likely the calibers you will find them in. Probably in the $300 to $500 range.

Buy a gun with the most common ammo, either 30 od 6 or 270. If you buy a gun with uncommon ammo, then it will cost more. Also, buy from a large store such as Cabelas or Gandermtn. Smaller places will cost more

A Stevens 200! just bought mine at academy for $199, comes in either 270 or 7mm-08, love it so far

I would think that your best bet would be to buy a .243 caliber. It's a pretty light caliber but it is perfect for whitetail deer hunting, hog hunting, and most varmints.

I suggest purchasing a rifle with a popular chambering, such as .30-06 or .308

Savage Edge or Stevens 200 are good bolt guns for the starter.
A Marlin 336C used will be a good shorter range lever gun.
All three have solid reputations and are reasonably priced.
