Using measure of movement towards a collectivist state and the commensurate loss of liberty: FDR, Wilson & LBJ tied for #2, Mr. Barry O. in 3rd after only 1.5 years. Will he be #1 after his term? Comments on posts: hooliganfuker - Barry is closer to Marxist than Socialist, but that's semantics. Who cares about the rest of the world? Health care is a commodity/service just like plumbing, teaching or auto repair - often needed, but there is certainly no "right" to them. If you're concerned about those without, you pay for it - don't force me. lameikwet - Cal and Harding did much to reverse the damage done by the 3 Progressive presidents before them. Also, government should not regulate the market, it will result in more harm than good, and its not needed - courts exist if fraud is committed.

The worst President was probably Andrew Johnson.

He publicly refused to sign anything bill providing civil rights for African-Americans following the Civil War. He was openly racist and ultimately impeached though never convicted for entangling himself in bills that would reverse the effects of the Civil War.

Or as Salmon P. Chase said during the impeachment case as Chief Justice of the United States:

"The man (Johnson) is utter scum, and has been a disgrace to his office and to the Republic for which it stands."

Let's see, we've had some good candidates on this one.

LBJ almost singlehandedly lost the Vietnam conflict for us.

Carter was (and still is) a douche-and-a-half.

FDR gave us huge entitlement programs that are bankrupting us.

Obama is trying to run this country into the ground (but, to be fair, it's not over yet).

To the ultra-libs screaming about W: he wasn't perfect, but he wasn't nearly as inept as Carter, he handled Iraq and Afghanistan WAY better than Johnson handled Vietnam, and his stimulus bill (while deplorable) wasn't as bad as what FDR saddled on us. Get over your hatred already.

@sister_godzilla: Obama isn't a socialist. And contrary to what the teabaggers will have you believe, the health care bill that was passed isn't socialized medicine. Socialized medicine is what we SHOULD have, and what pretty much every other first-world nation has. We now have a health care system that is better than what we used to have, but not nearly as good as what we would have if we had socialized medicine.

Fun fact: Conservative radio show host Rush Limbaugh has accidentally said things supporting both socialized medicine and a medical system like the one Congress passsed. (sources listed)

Woodrow Wilson was the worst president because he bottom lined the federal reserve act, which literally gave bankers the ability to print money out of thin air and charge us taxes on real assets for giving them the privilege. What a scam. He should of been a car salesman instead.

G.W. Bush, unquestionably, followed by Nixon the crook.

But Owe-bama is rapidly catching up to both of them. His spending to benefit the politicians' cronies, the fatcats and special interests is wrecking our economy at a record pace.

The politicians have been looting the economy for decades, and we can no longer afford such a corrupt government.

    Were there any good presidents?

Calvin Coolidge just set back and let the great depression take place. Every body was consuming and borrowing at an astounding rate and Calvin did nothing to regulate it.
