Cheap wedding reception venues (self catered and byo) in Brisbane, Australia?
Hi guys, i just want some ideas/suggestions on some wedding venues in Brisbane, QLD where i can have a wedding reception but supply my own catering and alcohol. There will be 80 guests and our wedding will be in January, so it'll be pretty hot!! :) Preferabbly i would love to have an outdoor wedding reception but any suggestions would be appreciated.
Cheers

For CHEAP venues- look west!
I got married last year in the Pan Pacific Peace Gardens at Redbank it costs nothing to book the gardens for a wedding and they have a seated chapel for ceremonies (unroofed) and a LARGE covered BBQ area on the other side of the lake from the chapel. The BBQ area will sit 60 comfortably, for 80 it would be a bit of a squeeze.
As it is a remote park you are not likely to be bothered by local hooligans either and the chapel is nice and shady!
Council is agreeable to setting up marquees for the reception (you have to provide these) and there are wheelchair accessible toilets.
To book the park you need to phone Ipswich Council- I can't remember the number and as I am using hubbies computer(he has my laptop at work with him!) I don't have the webpage bookmarked!
Downsides- no electricity, summer storms, close to train line (and I mean CLOSE!) park closes early so any reception would have to wind up fairly early.

There are a number of stately homes in the North/North East and Yorkshire that are already served by caterers but that might consider your request all the same - especially if they don't have a booking for your preferred dates. Be aware though that they are likely to charge you a 'loss of profit' fee in addition to the venue hire to compensate for some of the money they would have made had you allowed them to supply the catering. Ring round - a quick Yahoo search for wedding venues will bring up loads of quality sites, such as Hitched, ForBetterForWorse - they can only say no if you ask them!

No offense to the girl above me, but I wouldn't get married in Ipswich Shire, especially Redbank, and especially the park she has suggested.
I would rent a nice hall somewhere closer to Brisbane.
