HD receiver compability?
If I buy a Shaw or another brand of an HD receiver will I buy able to access the free HD channels offered by my cable company or am I stuck dealing with them? I have Rogers cable in Ontario.

They aren't free HD channels, they are included HD channels when you subscribe to the digital SD versions of them, for those channels that allow it (some channels require you separately subscribe to the HD version, in addition to the SD version).
With that, you will need a box your provider will authorize on your account, and that usually means a box from them, especially from a provider such as Rogers who mostly use Scientific Atlanta.
