How to RESET A/C compressor ?
2007 Civic . Mechanic has found the A/C system has a leak. He can't add refridgerant because the computer has locked out the compressor. Is there a DIY procedure to get the compressor running again?? I'm hoping this isn't a "dealer" only fix. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Did he fix the leak? There is a low pressure switch on the a/c to prevent the system from engaging the compressor when the refrigerant is low because the oil that lubricates the compressor is carried in the refrigerant.
you cannot induce refrigerant into the system until you 1) fix the leak and 2) use a recovery station to remove the refrigerant and air from the system. Once you pull a sustained vacuum on the system to evaporate any moisture you can then recharge the system.
If you're just trying to add a can of R-134a you probably will not get the compresor to engage because there is air in the system that needs to be removed so that there is room for the refrigerant.
if you want to know if the compressor is seized or not, you can probably jump the low pressure switch to ensure the compressor will engage. there is always the chance that the compressor is seized but on a 2007 that would be very unusual.
hope that helps
