When did we get a new race?

The fact that those who oppose the law claim that it will lead to "civil rights" violations of Hispanics is an admission that illegal immigration isn't centered on British bankers or Sweden architects streaming across the border. The problem is on the Mexican border, so of course the illegals are Hispanic. Duh!

Seems pretty obvious that Amos 541 has been on the wrong side of the law more than once. Most law-abiding citizens are grateful for the Police and their protection. As for the racial profiling, it seems that if the people speak English, it will be assumed they are here legally. If they are not willing to learn our language, they seem to be expecting to have to leave in a hurry.

OK, Mr, Knowitall, that's really cute. You know full well that the Congressman was referring to those people whose racial background is mainly Native American, regardless of their criminal or immigration status. There are many of these people in Arizona who were born in the United States and have never been accused of a crime. The Congressman is concerned they will be targeted under the new law only because of their appearance.

Police shouldn't be looking for Swedish architects or British bankers in the country illegally any more than they should be looking for laborers of Mexican ancestry.

Police should be looking for criminals. They should be looking for those who steal things and hit people, regardless of their race or nationality. That's what police are for. I am a lot more concerned about the person who breaks into my neighbor's house than I am about the person who does his landscaping.

Any restraint on police that keeps them from bothering the worst, slimiest bums unless they have reason to believe a crime has been committed also keeps them from bothering me. You might think the policeman is your friend, but the people who founded this country knew that the policeman's job is to arrest people and put them in jail. I want the police to arrest criminals, not to hassle people who are minding their own business.

He's using the fact that many people consider "Mexican" to be a race to his advantage. It's more of a reflection of how stupid the general population is than a reflection of what he actually believes.

That word race should be banned.

No white person I know thinks about a person's race. It's the people crying racist that do.

Thats not the problem it is that its racial profiling. I promise that there white mexican illegal aliens in Arizona that will never be stopped by the police and ask for legal papers.
