I got bitten by sand fleas...?

I went to the beach on Tuesday afternoon, and long story short, my entire body is covered in bites. My friend told me they were sand fleas, because I didn't go in the water, and I had noticed a bunch of black little things all over my legs when I walked through the sand.

The thing is, my mom got bitten too. She's itching like crazy, but I haven't scratched one of my bites (And I have like a million, not kidding). Mines don't itch one bit, and I don't know if that's normal. Sometimes when I'm walking, the bites on my calves will hurt a little bit, but it's not super uncomfortable or anything...

So is that okay?? And do you guys know how long they'll take to go away?? Thanks :)

-Any remedies, feel free to tell all :P

I was severely bitten years ago at St. Augustine. I have never been so miserable or itched so fiercely, and it seemed to go on for weeks. There are two unusual remedies for itching that are very effective, if a little messy. Chloraseptic throat spray has a topical anesthetic and works really well. The problem is the dark dye in it can ruin clothes, so it is best to spray your legs and feet in the shower, let it dry and then put on an old pair of dark sweats or something like that. The other remedy is messier, and stranger and really works well. Preparation H has a strong pain killer, but is greasy to the touch. Covering the affected area with Preparation H and putting on a loose old pair of pants will also give her some relief. Good luck.
