Gays Ruining Marriage?

Religious folk, particulary Christians, are the largest group of hypocrites on the planet.

"So let me get this straight - Larry King is getting his 8th divorce, Elizabeth Taylor is possibly getting married for a 9th time, Britney Spears had a 55 hour marriage. Jesse James and Tiger Woods are screwing EVERYTHING, yet the idea of same-sex marriage is going to destroy the institution of marriage?? Really? REALLY??"

--- Let's look at the examples that you are using... The people you mention are not the most upstanding role models, now are they? Maybe you should look at those who are better upstanding citizens...

For example: My parents, heterosexual... been happily married for 38 years... How's that for an example...?

You're forgetting that Gay Comedian Matt Lucas of "Little Britain" fame got a divorce from his very short marriage to his partner Kevin McGee who subsequently committed suicide..

So gay marriages aren't the romantic blissful unions you're presenting, If you think some heterosexuals are ruining marriage then why advocate for gay marriages that can fail too..

If a man and woman splits up people can say oh well they were just total opposites, if a man and another man splits up what will be said?, oh well they were just totally the same...

They aren't ruining marriage, they're stealing it. And people tend to be squeamish about male genitals coming in contact with fecal bacteria. What if it was transferred to the hands and contaminated the food at the reception? How could a man mistake an organ meant for the elimination of feces for a sex organ? Anal and oral sex are unsanitary.

The other problem with gay marriage is that if the sex life of homosexuals is nobody's business, as they insist, why must they go public? Parents don't want their children to know what homosexuality is. Civil union has all the rights of marriage without the public display. I voted for it.

There's something bizarre about two brides or two grooms at the altar. Could it be because we subconsciously perceive marriage to be a Christian institution? They can't just waltz into church and marry without becoming a member, tithing, or adhering to its morality. Let them come up with their own institution instead of stealing the Christian one.

Marriage was ruined when it became a public institution funded by government incentives and legal and economic privileges. Either turn it back into a private institution or allow everyone to benefit from the overt rights married couples get.

Did anyone even notice that the EXAMPLES you gave 'for the institution of marriage' are CELEBRITIES? As IF they even count! Celebrities are a JOKE already and only pagans even acknowledge them. Much like the idea of gay people being married.

I agree with knightrider2007. Marriage is being degraded and cheapened by gays being allowed to marry. Marriage is SUPPOSED to be the joining of a 'man and a woman' as one and the idea of marriage used to be sanctified. The Bible does not even recognize men/men OR women/women in any relationship, especially in marriage!

Perhaps marriage should just be "given over" to the gays, celebrity freaks, and all those who make a mockery of it. It is not a ceremony of love anymore. It is more like a "psycho's circus".

Actually, marriage originally was polygamous where men had many wives. Having it be one person marrying one other person only (regardless of sex/gender) is what "destroyed the institution of marriage". ... to put it in perspective.

If your marriage is so fragile that if the nice lesbian couple down the street are allowed to get married threatens it, then it's already over anyways. Same goes if the woman around the corner has been married and divorced several times, or if guy reading the local news cheated on his wife.

You're right, I can't deny that there are much worse things that the institution of marriage can be subjected to. Furthermore, I do not think it is the government's responsibility to control the sexual actions of two consenting adults. IF there are consequences to it (we don't know that there will be), people who are not involved in gay marriage will not suffer these consequences so there is no reason why they should try to control this either. I completely agree with you.
