Is this the reason why Jehovah's Witnesses don't follow Jesus' commands word-for-word in Matthew 28:19?
After 4 years of no visits I suddenly out of nowhere received 2 JWs at my door yesterday afternoon, such a pleasant surprise! One of the gentlemen was an elder of a Kingdom Hall in a far away town and he was here for only a few seconds and gave me the Watchtower and Awake magazines. I know they will return and I will be ready for the next discussion.
Now my question here has to do with the May 1 Watchtower article on page 17 paragraph 3. This paragraph was quoting Matthew 28:19 and here is what it said...
Jesus commanded: "Make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them."-Matthew 28:19
Now how can this be a proper quote with a period inserted and leaving out quite a few words that are critical to the textual meanings of this verse? This is what the NWT says...
19 Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit,
It started with the words "Go therefore and..." and ends with the words "...in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit,".
So how can that period be inserted inside that quote when the verse did not have a period, but only had a comma at the end with a lot of other meaningful words that are missing? Does this mean this special baptism under the "Name" is not meaningful texts to the organization any more???
Saramlou...How would you respond if I quoted you as saying...
"The point here was making disciples."
Are you going to be happy with my partial quote of all your "meaningful" words???
Porcelain Vessel...I told them I don't believe in their religion. I haven't seen any JWs in over 4 years, so what do you expect me to say to them when they surprisingly show up at my door for a few seconds while I'm in the middle of something very important???
And to reply to P C about this statement...
"...we DO baptise in the name of the Father, the Son & holy spirit just like the scripture tells true Christians to do. What do YOU personally do to fulfill that scripture?"
Okay now, where is the verbal mentioning of "the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit" in the JW baptism ceremony?
If you say there is that verbal mentioning then can you attempt to provide your proof???
And if you say now there is no need for a verbal mentioning of this "Name", then where did the verbal mentioning of the Name of Jehovah throughout the whole day come from? So if this is the case, are you saying one verbal "Name" is not necessary and the other verbal "Name" is necessary as it is the teaching from your magazines???
My apologies for that typo mistake, I was asking this to P V not P C .

Good point - the Jehovah's Witnesses don't want to be reminded that Jesus was giving instruction that baptism was to be conducted in the name of the three persons of the Triune Godhead (the Father, the Son & the Holy Spirit).
(Jehovah's Witnesses who read this - you can give me 'thumbs down' if you wish but it doesn't alter the fact that you are rejecting Biblical truth that is staring you in the face! The Trinity is a fact & is proven by simple studying of the Bible.)

in element of actuality, we do no longer have a human chief. The Watchtower employer is made from Jehovah's Witnesses the picture of a few thing individuals as is the Governing body. What we do and believe in is genuinely rapidly from the Bible criteria for Jehovah's actual people. perhaps Matt. 24:14 isn't the perfect "orders", as Matt. 28:19-20 are. 24:14 is subsequently of the what we do and could be seen as an illustration of our circumstances we stay in. We do all of those issues. We prepare. carry forth and warn mutually with the preaching artwork. regardless of if many refuse to pay interest, they have a minimum of been warned of what's to ensue and who will do it. only by utilizing our very call we instruct that they could under no circumstances say they'd no understanding. previously Jehovah destroys some thing, he promises both a caution to those in contact and a secure way out to those obeying him. we are doing that artwork now. Baptism is in user-friendly words the generic public way of showing one has privately in my opinion dedicated their lives to Jehovah's provider, no longer to adult adult males or themselves. extremely of being inner most and remoted, we are perhaps the most open and in contact team ever. we do not bypass for repute or self. We bypass to assist others learn what we've discovered so as that they too ought to celebrate with us and also steer away from the arriving cleansing of this wicked corrupt international.

The point here was making disciples of all people in all nations and baptize them. That was the point. This is not taking anything out of context because the point wasn't "in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit." The point was the making of disciples of all people in all nations. One part of this scripture does not change the meaning of the other part. It's called language. Taking sentences apart point by point to study the meanings within the sentence. You are too concerned over a period instead of looking at whether the meaning of the scripture was changed. The answer would be a very big "NO". Your point is only ranting and it is moot.

Considering you're so outspoken on here against us... ..you sure told them didn't you? ..rofl!
Are you different in the 'real' world?
(methinks... yes)
In answer to your question... we DO baptise in the name of the Father, the Son & holy spirit just like the scripture tells true Christians to do. What do YOU personally do to fulfill that scripture?
Btw... you should be grateful that Jehovah is giving you another chance. He's a very forgiving God

First of all they don't know the correct way to be baptized in water, Acts 2:38-47 fulfills Matt. 28:19

No they believe in there religion because of faith and believe to of had religious experience just like you and every other person who has a religion.
that should tell you something.I don't listen to proselytizers of religion neither do I bother taking sides. If there is a god then he doesn't need people to do his job for him. So religious people shut up and get a life.

Jehovah's Witnesses are not Christians

Yes, it is because they take it out of context to twist the word of God. But even most Christians are wrong on baptism. Come on, people, it is no magic trick!
Romans 6:3-6 - Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? (Luke 12:50 proves it is not water-baptism) Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. ~ Note: So baptism is crucifying the old body of sin and then no longer being a slave to sin. That is done by God when we become a believer. The goodness of God leads us to repentance (2:4). So being baptized is becoming a believer. Now try this being baptized...
Mark 10:38,39 - But Jesus said to them, "You do not know what you ask. Are you able to drink the cup that I drink, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They said to Him, "We are able." So Jesus said to them, "You will indeed drink the cup that I drink, and with the baptism I am baptized with you will be baptized." ~ Note: Jesus was not talking about going in the water again. To drink the cup and be baptized is referring to the suffering and death that awaited Him (Mark 14:36). Herod killed James in Acts 12:1,2. John was exiled for a while to the island of Patmos. He was persecuted greatly. They both got the Lord's baptism. If you can suffer for Christ, then you will teach the truth against false doctrine and not be concerned about the negativity you get from so-called Christians.
Mark 16:16 - "He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned." ~ Note: Some water baptism for salvation preachers try to use this verse to support them. Then I use this verse to show that it backfires on them. This is another verse that supports me in proving that baptism is what happens when we believe. I can say this because the last half of the verse does not say if you are not baptized you will be condemned. Only 1 was needed at the end of what will make the person condemned because both are tied to each other. God is the One who baptizes us (as into His family by His work of regeneration of our Spirit). It is the work of God that does it, not the work of a man with water. In other words, the verse is saying he who believes and has God do a work in them by making them born again by the Holy Spirit shall be saved, but he who does not believe will go to hell. You see, there is a first thing that WE must do before God does the work in us to get us saved, but if we don't do that 1st thing then we will be condemned and the 2nd thing (being baptized) obviously doesn't get done by God in us because we didn't do the requirement to believe.
1 Corinthians 12:13 - For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body -- whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free -- and have all been made to drink into one Spirit. ~ Note: This is not water baptism. It is the work of regereration by the Holy Spirit that gets us baptized into the body of Christ. We become saved when we are born again by the Holy Spirit. We then obey God by the working of His Spirit in us. God does not force us to get saved. We have free will to make the choice to turn to Him and then repent by His leading us to repentance. God then makes us born again, baptized into His body. God has and uses His power to make us born again, but we have to believe, turn to Him, and repent for that to happen.
Ephesians 4:4-6 - There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, ONE BAPTISM, one God and the Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. ~ Note: This is about being saved, so all you water baptism preachers are offending all Christians who got set free from the slavery to sin by the power of God's Holy Spirit when they got born again by playing the part of Satan the accuser of the brethren by saying they are not saved because God is not in them.
1 Peter 3:21 - There is also an antitype which now saves us -- BAPTISM (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ. ~ Note: Not the removal of the filth of the flesh means not water baptism saves us, and an answer of a good conscience towards God is further proof that baptism is what God does to us when we believe/have faith/repent from sin = what it takes to be a Christian saved from going to hell.
