It differs only in being in our modern language and is easy to understand. It also puts the divine personal name of God back into the scriptures where it was removed by men. Over 7,000 times.

For example: the KJV of 1611 has it 4 times. (Ex. 6:3; Psalms 83:18; Isaiah 12:2; 26:4)

Now the revised KJV removes it all 4 times. That is done by men.

"GOD" and "LORD' are titles, not names. "Jehovah" is God's personal name in English. It is different in other languages as most names are.

Comparing the NWT with other translations only shows a clearer, yet accurate, modern English sentences.

Why not do as Jehovah's Witnesses do? We use many translations. One Bible aid we use quotes from over 70 translations. I have 3 translations on my desk with about a dozen on my hard drive. we use whichever translation brings out the point that needs to be made the clearest. At times it is not the NWT.

You clearly have not read much of the NWT or other Bibles. For if you had, you would clearly see there is a major difference. Just start at John 1:1 and you will see a difference.

Bibles of Catholic and Christian? How is that a comparison of JW and Christian?

Catholics are Christian. Catholic and Protestant churches use the same Bible!

Do you have a Bible labeled "Jehovah's Witness Bible"?

I'm sorry you don't know what you are talking about. But it's obvious that you don't.

It is the same yet in modern English....not ancient English with Thee and Thou.

an example with the King James

they call a marketplace a shambles. To most people a shambles nowadays is a shack. But Jesus walked through the Marketplace ( NWT ) preaching and teaching not through the shack.

    *** it-1 pp. 120-121 Apocrypha ***

    APOCRYPHA

    (A·poc′ry·pha).

The Greek word a·po′kry·phos is used in its original sense in three Bible texts as referring to things “carefully concealed.” (Mr 4:22; Lu 8:17; Col 2:3) As applied to writings, it originally referred to those not read publicly, hence “concealed” from others. Later, however, the word took on the meaning of spurious or uncanonical, and today is used most commonly to refer to the additional writings declared part of the Bible canon by the Roman Catholic Church at the Council of Trent (1546). Catholic writers refer to these books as deuterocanonical, meaning “of the second (or later) canon,” as distinguished from protocanonical.

These additional writings are Tobit, Judith, Wisdom (of Solomon), Ecclesiasticus (not Ecclesiastes), Baruch, 1 and 2 Maccabees, supplements to Esther, and three additions to Daniel: The Song of the Three Holy Children, Susanna and the Elders, and The Destruction of Bel and the Dragon. The exact time of their being written is uncertain, but the evidence points to a time no earlier than the second or third century B.C.E.

Don't be fooled. There are much more things changed rather than Lord being chanced to Jehovah.

Gen. 1:1-2 - "In [the] beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

Now the earth proved to be formless and waste and there was darkness upon the surface of [the] watery deep; and God's active force was moving to and fro over the surface of the waters," (New World Translation, emphasis added).

    1. The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society denies that the Holy Spirit is alive, the third person of the Trinity. Therefore, they have changed the correct translation of "...the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters," to say "...and God's active force was moving to and fro over the surface of the waters."

    # Zech. 12:10 - In this verse God is speaking and says, "And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication. They will look on me, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for a firstborn son" (Zech. 12:10, NASB).

    1. The Jehovah's Witnesses change the word "me" to "the one" so that it says in their Bible, "...they will look upon the one whom they have pierced..."

Since the Jehovah's Witnesses deny that Jesus is God in flesh, then Zech. 12:10 would present obvious problems--so they changed it.

John 1:1 - They mistranslate the verse as "a god." Again it is because they deny who Jesus is and must change the Bible to make it agree with their theology. The Jehovah's Witness version is this: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was a god."

the list goes on really. If you ever want to discuss it further feel free to email me.

    .

When I first started studying with the Witnesses, I used my old King James Bible.

After I started going to meetings, I switched to the New World Translation, as it was easier to follow along, and I found no conflict between the two.

The NWT is just in more modern language, and of course, it restores Jehovah's name. Which I had no problem with, as I had known God's name long before I had ever heard of Jehovahs Witnesses!

Yes it certainly is different from other Bible translations. It is false. Passages from earlier, more authentic texts (like the Latin Vulgate) about Our Lord Jesus Christ, etc have been changed, altered, or removed to conform better to the Jehovah Witness' creed and beliefs. Don't trust their Bible with a twenty-foot pole. One of the oldest and most reliable english translations of the Bible is the Douay-Rheims Bible. This is a direct, word-for-word translation from St. Jerome's Latin Vulgate Bible from the 4rth century - of which the Council of Trent, under the inspiration of the Holy Ghost, declared it free from error. God bless.

Well, I think you'd better go and read and compare again.

    Christ is returning

    on Saturday May 21, 2011..

Whoa Tom - doesn't the Bible say "no man knows the Day or Hour" of Judgment Day?

Actually NO, this is not what the Bible says - in Matt 24:36 AND 37 we see how Jesus warned that the "knowing" or not knowing would be as in Noah's day - you can read of this in Genesis 6 and 7, and see that Noah had a 120 year specific warning, in which he, in fear [Heb 11:7] built the Ark, and Noah also received another warning 7 days before the Flood...AND, I Thes 5:1ff shows that God's Elect will know the timing of the End, but the unsaved will not, and will be caught by "the Thief In The Night".[see Rev 3:3, Heb 10:25 etc., etc.]...also Jesus, in Luke 17:28, says "as it was in the Days of Lot.." and the Bible shows clearly that Lot also had advance warning of the destruction of Sodom and Gommorrah and Admah and Zeboam.

Whoa, Tom - doesn't the Bible say that even Jesus doesn't know the timing of the End...actually, no, the Bible doesn't say that Jesus doesn't know anything...Jesus is presented in the Bible from start to finish, as God, and in Isaiah 9:6 is specifically named "Everlasting Father"...see John 3:13 - Jesus said He was in heaven while on Earth.

Whoa, Tom - haven't lots of nuts and cooks and cults set dates for Judgment Day? Yes, a few, but very godly and brilliant Bible scholars also set dates - like Martin Luther, Sir Isaac Newton [theologian and Father of Modern Physics], the Elders of the Westminster Assembly of 1648, and many Puritans [this era called "the high water mark" of Bible scholarship]....Newton set a date after 2,000 AD...the fact that these godly, brilliant Bible teachers set dates displays that they knew NOTHING in Scripture precludes believers from looking in Scripture for a date.

Whoa, Tom - How can I see some date in Scripture for Judgment Day?

go to familyradio.com - here you can download "WE ARE ALMOST THERE", and several other items that will help you see the date of the End from Scripture.

If you cannot download or print out, call Family Radio at 1-800-543-1495 [9-5 weekdays PDT] and ask for a free copy to be mailed to you.

Whoa, Tom - why would God tell just a few the time of the End?

God has always warned His own in advance of calamities - Noah before the Flood; Moses before God killed 14,950 false Israelite leaders in Numbers 15 & 16; Moses before the 10 Plagues of the Exodus; Joshua before destroying Jericho [when 2 million Jews marched around the Walls 13 times in 7 days]; Elijah before the false Prophets of Baal, and, Elijah before God killed 102 of the 153 sent to arrest him; Jonah 40 days before God said He would destroy Ninevah; John The Baptist before Calvary, etc.

Whoa, Tom - What should I do? read the Book of Jonah - these people, also warned of Judgment Day, repented by "crying mightily to God"...

May God save His people, before it's too late.
