Can anyone help me out with a scripture verse?

John 10:30 I and My Father are one I know what I believe it means but can you help me decide if this means that Jesus and God are one? Cuz this is what I believe it to mean.

You are correct in saying that Father and Son are one in essence, two parts of the Trinity.

Yeah, it means that Jesus and God are the same thing. Jesus is God the Son, Jehovah is God the Father. The son died on the cross and rose again to save us, we are saved BY HIM. The Father made the world. Also, there is a Holy Spirit which made Jesus, and dictates right and wrong.

That they are of the same spiritual essence. All of Jesus is God but not all of God is Jesus.

Think of sets and subsets in math. Think of God as a set and Jesus would be a subset of God.

Jhn 14:7 If you had known who I am, then you would have known who my Father is. From now on you know him and have seen him!"

Jhn 14:8 Philip said, "Lord, show us the Father and we will be satisfied."

Jhn 14:9 Jesus replied, "Philip, don't you even yet know who I am, even after all the time I have been with you? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father! So why are you asking to see him?

Jhn 14:10 Don't you believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words I say are not my own, but my Father who lives in me does his work through me.

Jhn 14:11 Just believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me. Or at least believe because of what you have seen me do.

Scipture interprets Scripture. Since there cannot be any contradiction in God's word then compare Scriptures to give understanding. Of course you need to look to God to help you and open your understanding and lead you to the Scriptures you need.

Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

There are very many Scriptures that bear upon what you ask. For an example I give you but two,

Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us.

Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?

And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever.

All three taken together show Christ is God and yet a separate Person to the Father.

The problem with this is that there are various ways they can be "one". In such cases, then we should use scripture to inform us about scripture. We must be careful not to form doctrine from a single verse where the meaning of the verse is not definite.

Human mind cannot comprehend the mysteries of GOD. The question sounds like an evolutionist whose trying to understand the universe with GOD out of picture.

Anyway....like our Consciousness, body and spirit are three different things yet one....same goes to the Father Son and the Holy Spirit.....see I broke it down...hope you get it. :-)

In John 10:30 Jesus said, "I and my Father are one." Does that mean that they are one in unity? Well, I ask if that was all he meant then why did the people pick up stones to stone him? (v. 31) In fact, Jesus asks them why (v. 32), and they answered him, "because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God" (v. 33). They understood this as claiming to be God, not claiming to be in accordance with him. So if "I and the Father are one" means "I am God", then he must be God the Father. Some Trinitarians have tried to draw attention to the neuter gender of the word "one" in this passage (Gk - hen), claiming that this means that they are one in unity. However, this is the same word used in passages such as Eph. 4:4 where it says that there is "one Spirit," and no one would argue that this means only one in unity.

Some Trinitarians claim that John 10:30 must be understood as one in union, simply because of the neuter hen. However, that alone is insufficient as in passages such as James 2:10 hen is used where it obviously means a singular "one," "For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles in one point, he has become guilty of all." On the flip side, heis is used of unity in Gal 3:28, "for you are all one in Christ Jesus." In the latter passage, the word one is in grammatical agreement with the word "all," but this does show that heis at times can be used for union. Numbers function often as adjectives, thus qualifying nouns. When the word one is used in the Greek this way, it will agree with the noun it modifies whether it is masculine, feminine or neuter. This usage is simple grammatical agreement and really gives us no clue as to how the word is being used. When Jesus makes the statement "The Lord our God is one Lord," quoting the shema the word heis in this instance is simply in agreement with the masculine "kurios" (Lord). The gender of this word itself does not tell us how it is being used. However, since Jesus told them that this was the most important commandment then I would have a hard time understanding this to be merely "one in unity," for even human beings can have this type of "oneness."

I believe that it means that God and Jesus are one, too.
