What is the best song to sing at the church?
During the signing of the registry. I have sung at many family members' weddings, and it is always, always Ave maria (Shubert). I would love to do "from this moment" by Shania twain but it might not be suitable with an organist in a grand ukrainian church! Any ideas? I don't want it to be too heavy, religious or put people to sleep as the couple are very lively people.

If you're sick of Schubert's "Ave Maria" (and you certainly sound like you are), try the Bach-Gounod version or Caccini's. Whether you could sing "From this Moment" depends on how conservative/liberal your church is. Is any pop-style music performed during services? Run it by the priest. He'll tell you. Meanwhile, there seems to be tons of websites with suggested wedding songs for different parts of the ceremony and/or reception. Just Google "Wedding songs". My only advice is to please, please, please look closely at the lyrics of whatever song you choose. A lot of people obviously don't because I've heard some jaw-droppingly awful choices. I heard Tom Cruise serenaded
Katie with "You've Lost That Loving Feeling". Huh? Then there was "Memory" from Cats that was so popular at one time "burnt out ends of smoky days, the stale, cold smell of morning"--what a joyful picture. If your church doesn't mind more contemporary somewhat secular music, "From this Moment" is actually quite nice. Many churches also have pianos if you think an organ is a bit much, or you can see if anyone has an electric keyboard.
