It really depends on the individual car. The car salesman will get paid a percentage of the profit that the dealer makes. I have seen huge commissions on both types and I have seen small commissions on both.
But many times the car salesman has a better chance of making a nicer commission on a lease, but that is not always true.
Sorry, but that is all I can say without all the numbers, credit score, taxes, etc.

Generally used...there is much more competition with new car as many dealers have the same product. The higher to profit, the higher the commission. BTW i never see many millionare car saleman, so for all this ripping off they are doing they must not be very good investors :) @ First poster.
