Does John Gardner have a chance at Heaven?
John Gardner is the convicted murderer of two California girls. During his sentencing one of the mothers of the girls told him she was certain he would not go to heaven. But will he? Doesn't Jesus forgive, if you repent. What if he accepts Jesus in his heart, sincerely repents and becomes a bible quoting inmate, won't he go to heaven? Isn't that the basis of Christianity? You can potentially get away with anything as long as you repent?

That is a good question...I was raised a protestant, which is defined as contemporary Cristian.I was sent to bible study and we had a program at school called chapel on wheels once a week. That is the extent of my religious upbringing.I guess it depends on how you interpret the Bible. Some say that once a person accepts Christ...that all sins are forgotten and the person will spend an eternity in heaven with Christ. Then there are passages that are not so forgiving...with the despicable acts that Mr. Gardner committed,I know he will meet his maker one day and there's no doubt in my mind his wretched soul will be tormented in Hell by demons until God decides he's had enough.

You misunderstand. When a person repents, he is not "getting away" with anything. He or she is strongly convinced that past actions and attitudes were wrong in God's sight, and there is a desire to change thoughts and behaviors so that they can live God's way of life and love. That, however, does not remove the consequences of past behavior. Some may still be executed for their crimes, and some may still serve their sentences. Regardless, because of the choice to embrace Jesus as Lord and Savior and live His way of life and love, these people are sincerely converted and are spiritually free and can look forward to an eternity with God.
