What is up with my cat?

For the last month or so, he's taken to standing in the kitchen, staring up at the microwave, and crying. He's had a check-up recently and the vet found nothing wrong with him. We didn't change the layout of the kitchen at all, so there's nothing new up there he hasn't seen before.

Oh, and he always does it around two AM.

Any ideas why?

Update:

Oh, and he's an indoor cat and we do have a second cat.

maybe looking for some company cats...or because he is telling you he's gonna go somewhere (our cat does that every morning) or he wants to go outside (our cat goes through our window but he needs us to open it to let himself out) or maybe there is something hiding near the microwave (our cat also made noises when he found a "delicious" lizard....he eats it, but that's a sign of hunger. maybe your cat is hungry.

Your ct could be on heat, in other words looking for a partner.. normally when a cat keeps cring and stuff they're on heat.. my cats always do it but they are all de-sexed :) ... Does it have access too outside? because if it doesent that could be another reason it wants too go out.. but yeh im not too sure just some advice :)

I would have to agree that he may have found something of interest like a spider.
