Why is Bristol Palin worth $30K as a guest speaker?

Information about what she is paid per speaking engagement was recently released. She will get "...between $15,000 and $30,000 for each appearance, Palin family attorney Thomas Van Flein said Monday". This is not to rag on her about having a baby out of wedlock. Don't care and it is not news. However, my question is what makes what she has to say about her life worth that kind of money. Getting paid for not living up to your conservative values seems somewhat off kilter.

Civil discussion please. Name calling is a big no-no too. But, I'm interested in hear people (pro or con) state their case.

I have to say that I've seen her several time interviewed on TV and she's a tad brighter than her mother.

That said, she can only exhibit herself as a 'do as I say, not as I do' convert after the fact.

She talks about how difficult it is to be a teen mom, as others are seen caring for her baby in the background. And, lets face it, she is on tv while other teen moms are doing the third shift at Burger King.

She seems to be making it more glamorous for kids and not the other way around.

Get that tired, schoolgirl/fry cook in front of a bunch of teens and you might get the desired results.

And she could use that money much more than Bristol.

She really has no viable experience in anything else, and her reminiscences about the campaign trail aren't really important. She was just a small cog in a very big wheel. There is only one reason for her to get big bucks and that's so that conservatives can contribute to the Palin machine without being under scrutiny.

Or do you think they really read those books Palin writes?

It does appear a bit strange, doesn't it? She really hasn't done anything noteworthy to secure that kind of money for a speaking engagement. From the outside looking in I have to suspect she's a pawn being used by certain factions to promote certain points of view. It all seems rather distasteful, but most politics do.

As a tenured full Professor in chemistry an American research University, I got $30K for three months work.

    Go reckon.

this is just more evidence of the dumbing down of american by the right wing presence in our nation.

we tell our children to try hard, apply themselves, have disipline, challenge yourself and you will succeed.

then those in power, select people like brisol or sara (for that matter) palin as inspirational speakers.

kids aren't stupid - they know when we lie to them...

It is a matter of what the market will pay. Same as when you sell your used car.

    Because people will pay it.

Conservatives are stupid when it comes to money.
