Are the Royal Thai Army use excessive force against the Red Shirt Rioters?

In the recent crack down of the riots in Bangkok, do you think the Military acted professionally?

From the western reporters, it seems to suggest that the military is using excessive forces, when they use APC and live rounds to shoot the riots. What do you think?

The attached says it plainly. If this was your country, what would you do? And before you criticize "excessive" force, keep in mind these "non-violent" protesters were shooting at them with grenade launchers, assault rifles, and petrol bombs.

    Opinion!

Damned if you do and damned if you don't!

"Would of, should of, could of" are always some of the things debated AFTER someone or some country chooses a particular method of correction for a specific serious problem.

I think that the troops and police should have used MORE force against these Red Shirt rioters especially after they invaded and took over the hospital. It is too bad that some of the press likes to portray these rioters as "innocent friendly people" and the police forces as evil! These protesters turned rioters also killed innocent people, destroyed property and looted stores! They set off bombs and threw grenades to inflict death and destruction! They were warned to disperse and go home.

If rumors can be proved true that Thaksin financed this insurrection he should be brought to trial for financing terrorist acts!

Maybe if the police and army had demonstrated sooner that they were willing and able to use necessary force against this mob fewer people on both sides would have died! If the army and police had demonstrated earlier that they would not put up with these interruptions the huge Central World Mall would not have been looted by these hooligans and set on fire along with banks and the Thailand Stock Exchange. This mall was around the 2nd largest mall in Asia, bigger than the Mall of America in the US.

If anything, I think the Red Shirts were the ones who used excessive force! Not to mention they, the RED SHIRTS, are responsible for the the billions of dollars lost from tourists and damaged property! It took a long time for Thailand to recover from the Yellow Shirt demonstrations and now they have to try and recover from this even more disastrous situation!

They are a Professional Army trained to obey orders .

Did they use excessive force against the Red Shirts - YES !!!!!!!!

Was this justified ? - NO.

Human Life is precious and shooting live rounds into unarmed crowds is morally wrong.

Yes a very small militant part of the protesters did shot at the army and police and this could be justified to return fire but when they can clearly see unarmed civilians trying to escape from the shooting and yet still get fired upon is so wrong.

The Red shirts were surrendering and yet now because of the Actions of the army, rather the Government that gives the orders to the army. Thailand is in chaos, Curfew's almost everywhere.

Thai people are good people and hopefully things will calm down but after what has happened there will be a need for a change of Government soon other wise History will repeat itself and you can only see more problem's in the near future

According to the Western Press it seems they did. But if you look at the government side it seems the Red Shirts over step the meaning of a peaceful protest. No one is going to know the real truth too many other parties may have been involved here. Like everything here nothing get solves. Who shoot Sondhi Limgthongkul, who set off the bombs at Central World NYE a few years ago, who killed and where is his body of the Muslim human rights lawyer Mr. Somchai Neelaphaijit 100's killed during the war on drugs here, Yellow shirts leaders case still not going anywhere after a year and half after being charged.

    They had to follow orders!

Whether the Thai Army or the Red Shirts protesters did, the leaders should be held responsible!

Only TWO of them. For more than 70 death, thousands injured and billions of money lost --- and nobody really won!

    What a crazy waste!

The red shirts had stockpiles of grenades, guns, AK-47s, moltov cocktails, they were shooting at the firemen trying to put out the fires they started, the red shirts caused billions of $ is lost revenue, put 1000's of people out of work. made many small business owners lose their life savings, they deserve what ever punishment came thier way, it' wasn't as if they weren't warned.
