Working/Traveling on the Gold Coast in Australia?

Hi! I am currently living in Vancouver, Canada, and am considering moving to the Gold Coast in Aus for 6-12 months in September to work and travel around. I am just looking for any tips or opinions about doing this. I would be getting a working holiday visa. I am 21 years old, and would be going by myself. Is it easy to find short term/temporary work? What about temporary housing, since I would stay mainly in one place, work, and travel on days off/weekends? What areas of the Gold Coast are the nicest? I have worked doing Marketing Promotions in Vancouver, so are there any Promo Rep companies in Gold Coast? If you happen to live there and wanna help me out, I would love to chat with someone about it! Thanks everyone!

Beth

You have asked this on the New Zealand section ,there is a seperate one for Australia. how ever. i am on the Gold Coast . I love it here. There are many backpacker hostels. here . You would be best to go to one around Surfers paradise. here you will meet up with many like minded travellers from many countries. Yes there are marketing promotions here. I can't help you though about that as I'm not in the know about them. Once you are here you may be able to share rental accomodation with someone . You take out a 6 month lease for that but if you stay at the backpacker hostels then you are not tied down to the one area. We have good shopping here and you can live quite well with food if you buy from the bigger supermarkets . Come on over for sand surf and sunshine.
