Are my SAT scores good enough for a top college?
I sent my SAT scores when I applied, and didn't cancel them after the test because I thought I did well.
So I got my scores today.
I got:
Reading : 730
Math: 620
Writing: 680
I got a 1350 our of 1600 and a 2030 out of 2400.
I had hoped to get a 1400, so I got pretty close.
Is this good enough to get into a top college like Columbia?
I will probably take them again, I was just wondering.

No. But you will get into a good school with those scores.
You'll need to raise your total by at least 200 points before considering applying to an Ivy.
And you should have at least 1490 out of 1600. 1350 is solid, but not elite college material.
Take it again! You WILL do better.
(Rachelo brings up a good point - don't underestimate the value of the essay. A great essay won't necessarily get you in, but a crappy essay will likely keep you out.)

Honestly even a prefect SAT score is not impressive or a guaranteed in to a top college, because they get quite a few applicants with those type of scores. That being said, a 2250 is definitely in the range for Stanford and others of that caliber, just know that it won't really stand out. If you think you can score higher, retake the test, any improvement will only make you a stronger applicant, just be aware that the higher your score is to start the harder it is to do better the second time.

Probably not. Your reading and writing scores are within range, but your math is pretty low for an Ivy League school like Columbia.. Of course, no school looks solely at the SAT scores, and you haven't told us about anything else. However, retaking, particularly if you review math for a while first, isn't a bad idea.

Nope. 2030 will not normally get you into an elite college.
Instead of Columbia, think Colgate.

Are you here to brag or something? That's a pretty decent score. stop worrying about getting into "top colleges", all they are are top businesses.
