  • iMovie question, please help?

I have a lot of movies on iMovie that I eventually export with Quick Time. They're taking up a lot of space on my hard drive, so I was wondering: If the events are still there, and the movies are in Quick Time, is there any reason to keep the projects? I will save more space if I delete those, right?

Please let me know if it wastes space to keep both the projects in iMovie and the exported movies. (Two of the same thing.)

  • Can I get a tax ID if I'm not a business owner?

I was browsing some wholesale shops and obviously their prices were so much cheaper, but to purchase from a lot of wholesalers you need a tax ID number and I don't have one. I basically just want to shop for myself or friends, not necessarily for resale (this is accessories, jewelry, etc.) but I guess I could branch out to that. In any case, I just wanted to know if I can get the tax ID without having a registered business. All the sites say you need to decide based on employees and tax forms, but this is just for me.

    Thanks.

  • Writing a Chicago Style Bibliography?

I have an essay that I need to write and I was told to use the Chicago Manual of Style to format it, but I'm using all my sources from one online archive of a certain newspaper. The articles are from the 1800s and have no authors attached to them, so how would I list the articles in my bibliography and footnotes? Also, if it's an online archive, so I write it as an online source or a print source?

  • Chocolate buttercream frosting?

I'm making a recipe that needs both vanilla and chocolate frosting. For the vanilla, I'm just going to make a normal buttercream frosting (butter, powdered sugar, milk, vanilla) but for the chocolate, I can only find recipes with heavy cream or weird ingredients (which I don't want/ have). Since I'll also be melting chocolate, does it make sense to just add some melted chocolate to the vanilla frosting and hope that works? I don't need it to be the richest frosting ever, I just need it to be the right color and a frosting consistency. Will that work?

  • Is paper shred clean?

I'm making little gift baskets with homemade cookies in it and I'm filling it with paper shred (the crinkly decorative stuff) on the bottom so it will look like grass but then I'm scared to put the cookies directly on top in case the paper shred isn't clean. How would I know if it's clean? I would rather not wrap up the cookies because it will ruin the look of the baskets. Anyone know if it's safe to put food directly on top of paper shred?

  • Macbook Shuts Off After A Few Minutes?

I have a Macbook Pro (OS X Lion 10.7.5, 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5) and it's fairly new (about 6 months old). Lately I've been having this problem: If I leave my laptop just sitting there open, for a few minutes (about 10 minutes or so), when I come back, it will be off and I'll have to restart it, with the message "Your computer was restarted because of a problem" showing up when I turn it on. This has happened a few times before, but in the past week it's happened about 5 times. I usually just shut the screen when I leave it, but if I don't it just shuts off "because of a problem". It is always either charged or plugged in when this happens, so it's not a dead battery problem.

I don't know why this keeps happening, but if anyone else does, please let me know!

    Thanks!

  • Copyright on YouTube?

I started a YouTube channel and realized some of my videos were copyrighted: one had a song in the background and two were footage of a show I went to that had music. All three videos said they had matched the 3rd party content, but none of them were removed so I don't have any strikes on my channel.

I read up on what constitues copyright infringement and deleted the two show videos and changed the music on the other one, but there are still a few things I'm unsure about:

How is it that some YouTubers- ones that are for sure popular with viral videos and probably partnered as well- have things that are copyrighted? A lot of new/ politics channels show copyrighted photos from newspapers and the Associated Press and stuff, and others use clips from movies. TV or audio clips from popular music. I doubt every one of them have obtained permission from the producer. Not only that, many of them use clips from other videos- RayWilliamJohnson's entire channel is talking about, and showing, other viral videos. I guess he gets permission, but I'm not sure.

And that brings me to my last question: Where do parodies fall into all of this?

Many people have videos of themselves singing along to a popular song (think Call Me Maybe this past summer) or making a parody of it. Is this considered copyright? I know tons of people make parodies and they have become viral to the point that YouTube can't just be ignoring it.

In fact, there are tons of montages that have copyrighted music that get by, so I'm not even sure what to think. But back to the original points- are those copyright?

If you know about any of these, let me know!

    Thanks!

  • Is it legal to share iTunes?

My friend asked me to put music on her new iPod. All my music was purchased from iTunes legally. Is it illegal for me to put her iPod into my computer and move my songs onto her iPod?

  • Which Figure Skates should I buy?

I've been skating for a half a year now, just classes- nothing special. I'm 17 and my instructor says I'm good, but I absolutely need new skates!

I've been skating with these absolutely AWFUL skates- cheap, even by a recreational standard!

They had terrible ankle support, were wide and had terrible toe picks for basic jumps and spins, like a waltz jump or 1 foot spin.

I wanted to know which skates I should get, for basic moves, but also basic spins and jumps. (like waltz and toe loop)

I don't skate competitively, and I don't even plan on taking any tests. I'm not on any level-

I just do this for fun.

At the same time, I want to make sure that I'm doing everything properly and not using skates that can be dangerous for me.

I really don't want to spend too much- around $120 tops. I will most likely be skating for only a few more months before I have to go somewhere where I will not really be able to skate.

I'm looking into Jacksons or Riedells. My instructor recommended Jackson, but I think Reidell would be good too because I have very narrow feet. Which ones can be used for basic jumps and spins but are pretty cheap? I was thinking Jackson Artiste or Riedell 121. Will those be okay? I will get them fit in a store, but I still would like other opinions!

By the way, I only get to go skating once a week, but I am very into it and practice my hardest!

    Thanks!

  • please help me-makeup for school yearbook pics?

So my school pictures are in about a week and I just did a "test" of the makeup I have to see if it will look good for the pictures. It's for my yearbook, and I'm a senior so it's a pretty big deal. I have light skin, light brown hair, dark brown eyes, and my skin is oily and acne prone.

So i really have a few questions:

    1. If my liquid foundation has SPF in it, will it make my skin look really light, even if I have a powder on top if it with no SPF in it (cuz i heard that SPF is bad for photos)?

    2. If i think my makeup looks too heavy/ dark for my skin tone, is it OK to ignore that and assume it will be lighter in the pictures? My skin looks a little more "tanned" with the makeup on than how I normally look.

    3. Do I need a contour color and highlight? Is foundation/ powder and blush ok?

    4. the eyeshadow I'm using is sparkly- (neutral gold look) I just was wondering if the sparkles in it will look weird in the picture. ?

    5. Any tips on how to get rid of a stubborn pimple in less than two weeks? I have a pimple that won't go away and I really want it gone by pictures!

Also, the pictures are black and white in the yearbook- I'm not sure if that changes anything...

  • Are my SAT scores good enough for a top college?

I sent my SAT scores when I applied, and didn't cancel them after the test because I thought I did well.

So I got my scores today.

    I got:

    Reading : 730

    Math: 620

    Writing: 680

    I got a 1350 our of 1600 and a 2030 out of 2400.

I had hoped to get a 1400, so I got pretty close.

Is this good enough to get into a top college like Columbia?

I will probably take them again, I was just wondering.

  • My computer doesn't recognize my camera!!!?

I have a Fujifilm finepix f20 and my computer suddenly doesn't realize that it's there when I connect it into the usb port. Now, I turn it on and it just shows me my pictures like it's not connected!! When I try to get pictures from the camera, the computer doesn't show that there's anything connected to it!! What so I do?? I've tried the camera in every usb port!! The computer recognizes other things in the usb port so I really don't know what to do! HELP!

  • High School college summer programs?

I'm a junior in high school, and I'd like to go to a high school college program at a college. I've seen ads for a few different ones, but I'm pretty specific as to what the program should have.

I need the program to be:

    a) On the East Coast (preferably New York)

    b) In August only

    c) Able to give academic - based scholarships (Those programs are pretty expensive!!)

Some of the programs give college credits, but I'm okay with it not giving credits.

If you know of any programs that fit these criteria, please answer! Thanks!
