Mixing Tramadol with Excedrin?

My doctor gave me 50mg of Tramadol to take.Normally it's 2 a day,He said they work better with other over the counter pain meds,so I took the Tramadol and half an hour later took 2 excedrin.I had the most awful stomach pain imaginable. Is it not good to mix these two,I'm thinking this is what caused the pain. It's happened twice now but when I take the Tramadol alone,I have no stomach pain. Can these two not be mixed?

im not a doctor, so dont rely solely on my answer. but i was put on tramadol before for headaches and body aches. i also hav stomach problems. ive found a diagnosis for my body pains so im not on tramadol anymore, but when i was my doctor told me not to take exedrin with tramadol cause this can irritate my stomach more. its better to take naproxen. its a similar over-the-counter medication as exedrin, but works in a different way and is often suggested for ppl with stomach problems. exedrin is infamously known as the last thing ppl with stomach problems should take for pain.

another idea is since tramadol works by effecting chemicals/neurons in the brain to suppress pain triggers, and since the GI tract is very much linked with serotonin in the brain, it could be that the two medications together triggered an abnormal response.

better talk to ur doctor about this. but i wouldnt worry too much. its not life-threatening. u should probably try naproxen instead of exedrin.

Im on Tramadol and I find it to be useless as a pain killer. Ultram I guess is a bit stronger. But a far as mixing, You should check with a doctor. Having too much aspirin based products can cause stomach bleeding. I don't no if Tramadol is aspirin based or not. The problem is with the Excedrin. Im guessing your on Tramadol due to an allergy with morphine based pain killers? Do your research before mixing drugs. Some of these over the counter drugs mixed with prescription drugs can land you in a world of sh##.

My doc said Tramadol and tylenol. NOT ASPIRIN as aspirin can cause stomach bleeding. Good luck and try tylenol unless there is a medical reason that you cannot take it.

i've had tramadol before & had a shocking time with it, my dr told me it was always a bad idea to mix any meds at all....i'd get a second opinion if i were you.

every body is different & you have to trust what your body is telling you.

    good luck

Call a pharmacy and ask to speak with the pharmacist. The pharmacist will know what medications can be taken together. They have all that information right there on their computers.
