The hair On My Violin Bow Keep Breaking?

You shouldn't break hair more than occasionally. You shouldn't need a new bow, but you might need a rehair. The hair might be old and weak, you might be putting the bow away without loosening the hair, or you may have gotten insects in your case that are chewing through the hair.

When was the last time you had your bow rehaired? This should fix the problem, and should be done at least once a year, more often if you are an advanced player. Some places do this for roughly $15, and will be much better than just getting a new bow. Also, you may not have your bowhairs loose enough when you leave it in your case after a playing session.

Sometimes when we use rosin on the bow, the hair sometimes break, but I have never broke a hair when playing before, but maybe that's cuz I've only played for 5 months. Maybe if it just keeps breaking, you should get it REHAIRED, not a new bow.

well ur bow is going to always lose hair once and a while.But if the bow is also new than it might be the pressure from when your playing mabey it should be loser when you play and make sure u untighten when you put it in your case and retightin when your about to play because that was the cause wen it happened to me plus it extands then bow life. good luck with it.

The loss of 20 hairs is not unusual. More than that if it keeps loosing hair, it will need to be re-haired or replaced.

Make sure you know what they are going to charge to re-hair the bow.
