Click and lock flooring; how easy is it really to install?

Can non-professionals seriously be expected to doing a good job of installing it? It sounded great at first until after more research I read something implying that the floor had to be perfectly level before it could be installed. I have my doubts as to whether or not my floor is completely level.

My questions are: 1. Is it essential the floor is 100% level? 2. If so, what can I use to compensate for any unlevel spots, and how hard is that to use? 3. Which click and lock product would you recommend overall for someone completely new to this? Wood, laminate, vinyl, bamboo, cork or ?? I would prefer to go with hardwood if it's practical. Thanks in advance.

Laminate is made for the average DIY with basic skill and basic power tools.

As far as the floor being level, its more important to being flat than level. You ll need a flat flooring to install almost any flooring to have it look good.

Most laminate , the floor can be out of level as much as a 1/4" in a ten foot span10' .

Depending just how "unflat" it is will depend on what the treat ment is and how much.

Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar. I ve attended several installation seminars as well as install a few 100,000 s/f. GL
