So I wouldn't say the Dems are winning this one and Obama has been extremely slow and completely out of the picture in the cleanup! Still, sure would have been nice if the environmentalists had let us drill on the surface in Alaska, or even close to shore, rather than way out there and having to drill a mile below the ocean's surface.

Sure would have been a lot easier to contain or plug any leak from a surface well or well close to shore.

The people that demanded these platforms be placed far out to sea should have been told the farther out you go the deeper the water which makes it much harder to handle

I find it funny when the 'drill everywhere' crowd claims that we need to lower our dependence on foreign oil. They just refuse to understand that the oil companies will sell any oil drilled in America to the highest bidder on the world market. There is no guarantee that any domestically produced oil will actually be used here in the US.
