I need menu / recipe ideas for foods that help lower triglyceride and cholesterol?
Just had my lipid panel done and my LDL & HDL are ok however the overall cholesterol and my triglyceride are above the norm. Need menu and recipe ideas for foods that help lower both. Not a big fish eater, only like scallops and salmon and once in a while ahi but that's it. I know I have to cut the white rice out (ugh that's going to be hard being part Korea) and the white pasta (doubly hard since I think I was Italian in another life! lol) but need more ideas. I can tell you when I was on Nutrisystem my triglyceride was low at 138 (recommended to be less than 199) and as of the blood test yesterday I am now 226 and that is within 1-1/2 years from the 138 reading. Overall cholesterol is 230, 1-1/2 years ago it was 212, year before that it was 209 and it is suppose to be below 239 so the 230 is pushing it. And no I'm not going back on Nutrisystem, don't have that cash flow anymore.
Thanks all!

I recommend the menus and recipes in the South Beach Living diet books! It has been proven that low carb. sufficient protein and fat food plans are best for lowering bad triglyceride and LDL cholesterol. There is no such thing to doctors as "ok LDL" levels. They always want them lower.
Most of the recipes and menu suggestions in SBL books are very economical. Get the books at the local library and copy out anything that looks good! You can match it to what you were eating on the Nutrisystem plan.

Eating soluble fiber is the key to lowering bad cholesterol. Good sources of soluble fiber include: * Apples * Artichokes * Beans * Cheerios * Oat bran * Oatmeal. In addition, a recent study showed that black tea can reduce bad cholesterol. Participants who drank 5 cups per day saw a significant reduction in their bad cholesterol. As the major contributors to triglycerides are sugar and alcohol, bringing the levels down is a more challenging task. To begin, examine your diet and cut your refined sugar intake. There is also anecdotal evidence that flaxseed can help reduce triglyceride levels.

If you want to eat truly healthy, lose body fat consistently, normalize your blood pressure, cholesterol levels, prevent cancer, and even boost your brain health and energy levels, you may have heard all over the news that the Paleo Diet has been found to be one of the best methods of achieving all of these benefits compared to any other popular "fad" diets out there. Go here https://tinyurl.im/aHMJ2
The truth is that the Paleo Diet will never be considered a fad because it's just simply the way that humans evolved to eat over approximately 2 million years. And eating in a similar fashion to our ancestors has been proven time and time again to offer amazing health benefits, including prevention of most diseases of civilization such as cancer, heart disease, alzheimers, and other chronic conditions that are mostly caused by poor diet and lifestyle. One of the biggest misunderstandings about the Paleo Diet is that it's a meat-eating diet, or a super low-carb diet. This is not true
