Why there is need of large intestine and small intestine?

The food we eat or the water we drink reaches the same space. As such, it is necessary to have the two intestines?

    they are necessary because they have different functions.. the small intestine only absorbs nutrients from the food we eat and transfer it to veins to be taken to the rest of the body. while the large intestine absorbs water and vitamin K and separates the solid waste products the body does not want.

    so, the small intestine does not absorb the water and vitamin k. the large intestine does that. With water being absorbed, the large intestine leaves waste which is solid , behind and that becomes your poop.

    its necessary to have both intestines because the two intestines perform different functions in the body. The small intestine is where the most extensive part of digestion occurs. Most food products are absorbed in the small intestine. The large intestine is responsible for absorption of water and excretion of solid waste material.
