What does your team need?
What do you think your favorite NHL team needs to win a Stanley Cup? I'm a Wild fan, and right now they lack a 2nd line center, and a couple of scoring wings. What does your squad need to add to the fray?
A.J.C. - I think the Leafs need their draft picks back from the Phil Kessel trade, but I kind of hate the guy for whispering in Blake Wheeler's ear to play for Boston instead of MN
Boston Fan - Would you trade up to get Hall, or let it ride and take Seguin?
Machinehead - The Rangers missed the playoffs because of a lack of goal scoring. Yes, I understand that you have Marian "The Cancer who's Always Injured" Gaborik, but after that, there wasn't a whole lot of goal scoring. I think your team really needs to ditch Drury, Jokinen, and Redden. Cap space is gonna be tight for the Rangers.
Jack Avs - From what I saw, I think the Avs just need more experience from their core group of players. Re-signing Budaj was a terrible idea, since Anderson does need a night off every now and again. I expect a much better showing from the Avs this year, although I think they could still use Wolski.
Mateo - The Flames need to ditch some contracts and open up some cap space. This may be unpopular is Calgary, but I would look to move Iginla soon. He's 32, and hitting at $7 million through 2013. Either that, or lose Bouwmeester, but who would take him at $6.6 million?

The Avs scoring setup is fine, great, even. With Peter Mueller, Paul Stastny, Milan Hejduk, Matt Duchene, Ryan O'Reilly, TJ Galliardi, Chris Stewart, and David Jones, they have enough offensive talent to last for years to come.
The goaltending is awesome too. Craig Anderson. Enough said.
Where they lack is in the defense; They have two small guys in Liles and Cumiskey, and one slow guy in Quincey. Foote is kind of slow too, but at least he's a hard hitter and he's smart about his positioning.
And one other thing: Sacco is an excellent coach, and a perfect fit for the team. But he needs to be better at managing his goaltenders. He ran Craig Anderson ragged in the last 2 months of the season, and it showed with the Avs going something like 2-8-0 in their last 10 games. But sure enough, when he had a week to rest before the playoffs, he was back in top form, pulling out a 51 save shutout in game 3.

The Rangers need better management. They have great talent and a coach that has no clue how to use it. They also have a GM that lets his kids rot in Hartford to sign verterans instead. The Rangers need to fire Torts and get someone component in here, and start bringing more kids up. If they do that the Rangers are easily a playoff team. The Rangers don't lack talent, they lack direction.
Here's what the Rangers have:
-Jesus is their goaltender
-One of the deadliest snipers in the game in Gaborik
-An amazing, and very underrated talent, in Brandon Dubinsky
-Del Zotto and Anisimov who will both be all-stars in the futre
-The best penalty kill in the NHL
-The 2nd biggest player in the NHL behind Chara
-Great shutdown D with Staal, Girardi, and Gilroy
-Youth: Dubinsky, Staal, Zuccarello-Aasen, Anisimov, Del Zotto, all under 25. With Gracev, Stepan, and Sanguinetti on the way.
Geez all that and they missed the playoffs? Somethings wrong at the top...
Now I'm not saying they're ready to win the Cup as they are now, but are they a playoff team? Without blinking. If the talent is there and the wins aren't, I gotta blame the coach.
EDIT: The Rangers lack goal scoring because they're one of the few teams that still uses the obsolete 1-4 forecheck, and sometimes it's an 0-5. Of course the Rangers don't score, they don't try.

The Leafs, first and foremost, need to trade Kaberle (while his no trade clause is void) for Columbus' 4th overall pick and another young prospect. If Columbus won't give Burke their pick, he should forget about a pick in this shallow draft all together. What would be better would be to trade him for just prospects/young roster players or picks in a future draft, because as I said, this really isn't a deep draft and the talent level of the draftees will drop significantly after the first 5 or 6 players.
After getting rid of Kaberle, Burke needs to bury Jeff Finger's contract in the minors and use that money to sign a scoring winger to play with Bozak or Kadri. Kadri should center the second line, but he will NOT have a good year if he's playing with guys like Viktor Stalberg on his wings. So we need a winger for the first line so Kulemin gets bumped down to Kadri's line, or just a second line winger. Bobby Ryan would be PERFECT, but it sounds a little unrealistic. James Neal would be great.
Other than that, the defense is as solid as its been in a while (at least the names sound good, we'll see how they play) and our 3rd and 4th line look good. Colby Armstrong would look good on the third line though, and there have been some rumours about Burke wanting him.

The Bruins need a sniper.
*I personally want Hall. I think both Seguin and Hall are outstanding players, but I think Hall is a better fit for the Bruins. One time Hall got pushed from behind into the end glass, cut his head open, left to get a band-aid then returned to score the game winning goal. He is also a sniper and that's what Boston needs. I don't think I would trade up YET. Edmonton is still undecided. Either was there is still great depth in the draft.*

Flames Fan
We need a centre that can play with Iginla and we need our offense to do a better job scoring. Once that is in effect, and if the defense plays to the best of their ability, I think the Flames can potentially win the NW and perhaps make a cup run. Scoring is needed very badly and I think a centre that play with Iginla can solve alot of those problems. Bouwmeester needs to play better, Kipper has to continue doing what he's doing, and guys like Rene Bourque, Mark Giordano, and Backlund have to continue improving as they have been doing. If all that is is in the mix, I think the Flames can do very well in this league.

The Leafs need at least 3 intimidating scorers and 1 or 2 more established defenders. Goaltending should be set for the next few seasons.
Boston Sports Fan 37 -- Boston needs a few snipers actually. They've got great talent but not enough finesse.

Canes need a winger to play on the top line with Staal and Jokinen. Whitney and Ruutu are 2nd line material, while LaRose is 3rd line. None of them play great with Staal. They need a 3rd line center, although Brind'Amour, who should retire, seems to want to come back, meaning he or Dwyer will probably be placed on the third line, although they're both 4th line centers today. They need a top four defensive defenseman to play with Joni Pitkanen, who doesn't deserve to lead the NHL in ice time. So, they could use better coaching as well.

The Red Wings need to be healthy and stay healthy. They need at least one more defenseman to step up consistently. They need an enforcer that is not a goon. They need Osgood to be the back up we know he can be or take the starting job away from Howard. I mean, in reality can Howard have a year next year like he had this year? I am doubtful. Re-signing Lidstrom sure makes things look brighter.
They key is to be healthy and stay healthy.

My redwings don't need much just a 3rd or fourth line veteran having some offensive upside, and is willing to stir the pot, adding the young guys to the roster full time next year will help, and howards experience and development will only benefit us next year. Cup contenders again next year :)

Avs fan...I think we need big D. (besides Foote,Cumiskey and Liles) someone with bone crushing hits. My other team, the leafs, need a better GM and basically need a better roster
