I let my membership expire in Feb. They never did anything for me.

I was a member for about ten years and finally learned they were all about politics and paying themselves a big pay check. To do this they sell insurance and a magazine and they make big bucks off membership fees.

When they involved the Hollywood Celeb's - that is when I began to really understand their motives.

I have not been a member since my membership ran out.

I learned that seniors could and can get a discount - with or with out an AARP membership card.

    Good question

Actually, I've read some good articles in the AARP magazine.

As for the advertising, it gets pitched.

They are useless! Their support of the health care reform disaster will eventually do them in. We seniors are facing greatly reduced services while the AARP fat cats ride around in limos.

I don't see them as a serious problem. I subscribe to their magazine, which is of some interest to me. As to their sales pitches, I have a lovely big wastebasket...

The magazines have some good articles.I have said the organization's name should be changed to

American Association for Liberal Retired People.

I myself think the AARP is a valuable asset to senior citizens. They give me a voice where I wouldn't otherwise have one.

That's some the reasons I dropped my membership with them. they did nothing for me except take my money for the membership
