Can you take out a new piercing a couple hours a day?
I don't have pierced ears but my daughter wants to pierce hers. She is an athlete and that would require removing them for all training and games...is that possible??? I thought they needed to stay in all the time...but could they come out for about 2 hours at a time 3-4 times a week? No way coach would let them stay in.
Unfortunately, there are no 6 weeks of off season...she plays years round. So it will just stay on hold until she wants to stop her sport (or God forbid...goes on the injured list.)

Definitely not. Your daughter will need to wear the studs used to pierce her ears all the time, 24/7, until her ears have been pierced for at least six weeks. If she takes them out before her ears have healed she (or you) will have serious problems putting them back in her ears in exactly the same position they were in and not pricking the new skin forming inside her ears. After her ears have been pierced for six weeks she can change her earrings as often as she wants. She should continue wearing earrings all the time, 24/7, until her ears have been pierced for at least six months, but she should be OK going without earrings for two or three hours each day so long as she is faithful about putting them in as soon as possible after her athletic activities. Could your daughter get her ears pierced at the end of her athletic season and wear earrings for at least six weeks before the start of her next athletic season?

Nope, definatley not. Firstly the jewellery getting removed will just bring the healing time back to where she started off. Secondly fresh ear piercings can shut within minutes. Might have to wait a few years with this one :/ Good luck! =)

A definite NO but having said that I find sleeping very difficult with new piercings I have removed them overnight but be warned putting them back in really can hurt, the holes will be pretty sore & I used neat tea tree oil on the wounds to reinsert. Happy days are ahead.

NO! Especially with an ear piercing, you should never mess with the healing process of your ear. You should have never gotten it if you would have had to hide it because for one it will hurt to remove and also, it takes a couple of months to heal properly. Remember, it's still open for a high risk of infection.
