    5.7x28mm. or 4.6x30mm.... Either one, I don't much care.

We can all pretty much agree that the only way to kill a zombie flat out dead, short of destroying the zombie (fire, crushing, etc.), is to shoot it in the head, destroying the infected brain.

... The objective here is to just make a nice hole in the zombie's head. Many cartridges will do this. However, we must also take into account that there are going to be hordes of zombies that need killing.... So quick follow up shots and high capacity are critical, as well as being able to carry sufficient ammunition.

This is why these two cartridges are superior.... They will destroy the brain, and actually do quite a good job of turning it to worthless jelly since they are of such velocity. Something like .44Mag is excessive.... Sure it kills the zombie, but recoil is heavy, ammunition is heavy, and revolvers are low-capacity.

You may ask why not use .22LR.... Reliability and range. .22LR is not accurate for as great a distance as 5.7x28mm or 4.6x30mm, and it isn't as reliable most of the time, lots of DUDs and failures to feed.

For firearms.... This prett ymuch limits you to the PS90, the FiveseveN pistol, or an AR15 with a 5.7x28mm upper (my favorite). Or, you could get the HK P7... Which I've not seen in person, nor have I seen the ammunition.

Therefore.... 5.7x28mm it is. Less than $.50 per round.

I've had problems with zombies coming into my yard too. Handgun is not the most a effective. I actually like the good old fashion bow and arrow with the arrow on fire. Seems to work when I have problems with those zombies. And always remember, knifes don't need to be reloaded.

For a handgun caliber I would say .45 ACP, You must make head shots and 230gr.+P ammo will consistenly remove heads, and still semi auto so you can reload quickly and put more lead down range.

If we could choose any weapon I would go with the GE M134 Vulcan minigun chambered in 7.62 NATO.

.44 mag would have been the best caliber but you need a higher capacity gun then a revolver...get a glock or springfield .45 with extended mags.

Zombies don't exist, so use any caliber you like.

  • Any will work, causing brain damage incapacitates them. So actually a 22 long rifle would allow you to carry a lot more fire power.

A super soaker loaded with Barcadi 151. They are a hoot to watch when they are drunk.

    Nice hat.

I prefer automatic rifle to hand gun for zombie decimation. But realistically, .45, .44, .40, 9mm, .357... whatever your heart desires would be effective.

And to Cris - They're coming. And those that mock aren't welcome in my shelter. =)
