Help, I know nothing about lawn care. I recently moved into a fairly nice neighborhood.?

All of the neighbors have nice well manicured lawns and flower gardens. I do have existing flower beds from the previous owner but I am not sure what are weeds and what should be there. I also live in an area with a lot of very tall trees and wooded areas. In the neighbors part of the woods the edge is nice and pretty but mine looks pretty bad. How do I deal with that because I don't think there is much grass there. I live in the midwest, near some river bottoms on a hill, there is very little even ground, little sunlight. I also live in a conservancy district....does that mean that we can't cut down any trees...even the little or dead ones?

Gardening and lawn care is all about trial and error. If you see a bunch of green in your gardens that just seem to be the same everywhere, as well as inconsistent, start pulling. Of course, I don't know how long the house was vacant before you moved in nor the circumstances. Of course, if you could call the previous tenants, that would certainly help. If you are a member of a HOA, homeowners assn, then you could call them and ask about the trees. However, when you mentioned a conservancy district, that means just one thing; no cutting, but you can pick up dead limbs. One plant that will grow in shade and especially love being under trees, are hostas. They are so easy to plant and grow and can be easily divided the following year. There are now many different hostas. And just to make it a little easier for you, I had never mowed a lawn in my life until I turned 41 and purchased a self-propelled lawn mower from Sears, and I just taught myself because I didn't have anyone to help out. It worked out just fine for me. You will need a trimmer, too, but get an electric one and buy some extension cords for outdoors. As you do research on the internet, you will find so many websites to help you out, as well. And visit davesgarden.com for views on a list of nurseries that are online. It also helps to visit the library. If you can afford a weekly landscaper, as in lawn care, check out the people that come out in your neighborhood that have theirs done, and then ask and get quotes. Good luck to you!

A shaded yard will never be as "pretty" as one which gets a bit of sun. The grass will be thin like a man who is balding. There are many beautiful shade plants you could use to make any ugly parts better. Weeds are dealt with using either poison, or hard work. Hard work is good for you, and poison is bad for every living organism on our planet. Wait til after a light rain, when it has softened the soil, you should be able to pull up the weeds with the roots.

You would have a better experience if you asked a neighbor to show you how they do it. You can only learn so much by reading about yards in general. Go outside and get started!

regrettably, with the way that the economic device is going, you're propably going to work out a upward thrust of ghetto human beings stepping into richer community. it somewhat is the way it somewhat is right here in Las Vegas, NV. you could actually force down a street with wealthy properties on one area and poor on the different. We hire our domicile and have become friendly with our friends on one area. They mentioned they sighed while they observed us as a results of fact maximum folk residing in our domicile have been grimy. No, i don't experience the ought to respond to my door to any Tom, Dick, and Harry. call me unfriendly, racist, whatover in case you will. for a great type of the day i'm domicile on my own. Their have been situations while somebody rings the doorbell and that i don't be conscious of who they are. How am I meant to be conscious of it they are casing my domicile or not? One time this black guy got here and he does not tell me why he became there. He mentioned and that i quote "i'm a only yet another scarey black guy". I advised him throughout the time of the door that i did not care what color he became. If he could not tell me why he became there than i could not open my door. you do not ought to respond to the door to all human beings that comes. it somewhat is why God invented keyholes. i does not be afraid of your new friends, yet that would not propose that i does not be careful.
