Substitutes in soccer?

Ok, ignorant American here....Is this correct, during the entire game each team gets 2 substitutes? If someone gets a red card they can NOT be substituted (the team would play a player down)? Or if they have not used all the substitutions they can put another player in...Also, 2 yellow cards equals a red and a player would be ejected? And if ejected you have to sit out the current game and the next? Thanks!

Each team gets three substitutes. I am not sure how many they can dress as substitutes, but when the three have been used, then that is that. (too bad if you lose another player through injury).

If a player get a red card, he/she is ejected (sent off in soccer speak), the team then plays with ten players, if two are sent off then 9 etc.

If a team has 5 players sent off the match is abandoned (a team cannot play with less than 7 players).

If a player picks up a second yellow, they are then shown a red and sent off (sent off players are not allowed to remain on the bench).

As for missing the next game, that depends on the competition rules.

    Each team gets THREE substitutes.

If a player is red carded, then they cannot be replaced. The team will play the rest of the match with 10 men.

Two yellow cards equals a red card.

Don't call yourself ignorant. We all have to learn sometime.

    3 substitutions per match.

A sent off player (shown a red card) cannot be replaced in that match. Not even if their team has substitutions remaining.

Receiving two cautions in the same match (yellow cards) result in an automatic send off (red card) and the player would be sent off just as above.

Any send off (red card) means the player _also_ misses the next match, although his team would be able to play 11 again in the next one.

each team gets 3 subs per game if a player recieves a red or 2 yellow cards the can not be replaced, even if they have not used all their subs to that point, so yes they would play a man down and that player would recieve a 1 game suspension

    3 subs each.

Once a player is subbed out he may not go back into the game

2 yellows equals a red and your team plays down a man for the rest of that game and you are suspended for the next

2 yellows in separate games in the round robin will get you a 1 game suspension after the current game (the one where you picked up the 2nd yellow)

you are allowed 3 subs but once a player is sent off you always remain a man down even if you still have subs they can only replace a man on the pitch, the rest is about right

If there are only 3 subs per game why are there like twelve players on the bench.
