Why did Nicodemus approach Jesus by night - was he afraid other religious leaders would see him during the day?

John 3:1-2

There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:

2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.

Yes. There was great social and political "trauma" for those who followed Jesus openly. They were thrown out of the temple of the Jews. It would be a lot for a leader in the temple to bear...being publicly ostricized and stripped of power. It would have essentiallly made him a homeless beggar for his day and time. Since he eventually was bold enough to ask for the body of Jesus, with St. Joseph of Arimathea, he gets credit for his bravery in standing up, at least in the end, for Jesus. And perhaps it was because he did keep his high political position that he was listened to...God works in mysterious ways...through all of us in any position in life at all, if we let Him. Good question.

i think of all people who spoke back that having a night trial with the intention to conceal what they have been doing from the persons are on the magnificent song. What makes this deed of the religious leaders much extra reprehensible for having this mockery of justice is that it replaced into completed on the Passover - a significant holy day! So not purely replaced into this a kangaroo court docket yet completely unlawful by utilising breaking holy day. this might have incurred much extra severe objection from the persons if it got here approximately throughout the time of the day. the finished ingredient replaced into an evil sham from taking off to end. No ask your self they did it previous due below the conceal of darkness while the persons may be domicile and probable in mattress.

    Yes,

He was like the leading Jewish religious leader in Jerusalem,

but when they crucified Jesus and killed Him, Nicodemus and Joseph of Arimathea buried Him, so it looks like he eventually decided that Jesus was more important than his religion and his status.

    Yes.

He was a secret disciple; he didn't want to be seen around Jesus, much less with him.
