Why don't they make mouse flavoured cat food?
It was something brought up on an advert a few years ago (not for cat food though). Would mouse flavoured cat food sell?

You can buy 'mouse' flavored cat food. Mice taste the same as chicken, so they put chicken into the cat food, and the cats think they are eating 'mouse flavored cat food.' How do I know this? I had a friend who was stranded in a cave during a flood for three months, and he had to eat the small lizards and mice that he caught ... I know, it's weird, but true.

Probably but i think the reason they haven't done that flavour yet is, who is going to taste a mouse to copy the flavour! only a cat knows the taste of a mouse, and it would take a human to come up with flavourings,so they would need to taste a mouse and copy it,doubt it will happen for that very reason!
though where i am in the UK they made hedgehog flavour crisps in the 80's,lots of kids refused to eat them, as they thought a hedgehog had been killed for crisps! not sure how they came up with a flavour for that one!
but mouse cat food would be popular amongst cats i am sure, but until someone is brave enough to copy a taste of a mouse it will just have to be a cats dream!

Probably not. people want to have their cats eat the mice around their house and if u give them food that tastes like a mouse, then they wont eat the mice that are running around the house.

Because PEOPLE buy the food, not the cats. We want to give our pets the sort of thing we would like to eat. Since we do not find mice pleasing to our palates, no owner would buy mouse-flavored cat food.
More to the point, can you imagine the poor person in charge of finding out what mouse tastes like and making the food accordingly? Eww...

It might, for people who want their cats to be on any mouse in the house, but how to you make mouse flavored cat food?

Cats chase mice because they are there, not because they love the flavour of mouse. Cats will chase any prey they can: rodents, birds, snakes, bugs, stuffed toys.

No, because then cats would be attracted to the taste of mice. Rodents can carry a lot of germs and disease that would be passed onto the cat by being consumed.

Likely because it would turn off the people buying it for the most part.
My vet once told me if it weren't for the parasites that birds, mice, etc. carry that these critters are the ideal diet for cats.
When I feed my cats I tell them the food is birdie or mousie flavored :-)

Mice were eaten in the movie "Never Cry Wolf".
