28 week Ultrasound question please read?

I went for a 28 week ultrasound due to the fact that the babies kidneys were swollen at his 18 week ultrasound and they wanted to check and see if the swelling has gone down. My doctor just called and said that the ultrasound showed that the kidneys were more swollen and that the bladder and intestines might have problems. She also asked if I have ever been tested for cystic fibrosis. I'm now being scheduled for a high risk ultrasound in two weeks. My doctor said she didn't want to talk about what it could mean because she doesn't want to freak me out but I'm scared anyway and have two weeks to wait. I know none of you can tell me what it is. I was just wandering if anyone has gone through something similar and what it ended up being for them. Just some idea of what could be going on. Thank you!!!

I'm not sure but my nephew has cystic fibrosis and there weren't ever any indications on an ultrasound that led doctors to believe he had it. They found out after he was born only because he was sick all the time. Even with him having it, he lives a perfectly normal life. Every now and then, he gets pneumonia, bronchitis, stomach problems, or just the normal cold. But with as advanced medication and doctors are today, he gets through each occurence just fine. His doctor has said that nowadays, people with cystic fibrosis aren't necessarily expected to have shorter lifespans. Also, there's a blood test they can do to see if you're a carrier for the main types of cystic fibrosis. They can do amniocentesis as well to check and see if the baby for sure has it but with you this far along, I wouldn't worry about it. I hope it's nothing serious! Good luck.

As a mom who has had several ultrasounds, this is fine. I was a 4 time patient of an Advanced Fetal Care Center, the best Dr's in the country took care of me, and this is what I was told; 1 lb over or 1lb under the measured weight. At 30 weeks w # 2 she weighed 2 lbs 6 oz, i was told had i made it to 40 she would have weighed 5 lbs. If the DR isn't worried or she isn't showing signs of gestational diabetes, then I wouldn't worry either. These weight measurements really aren't 100% accurate , none of mine were until right before delivery. At 39 weeks, my # 6 was guessed to be 7 13 ( 38 weeks) that night I delivered, 7 lbs 6 oz. It's an educated guess based on head size, bone length and width of baby. Or maybe yo guys are going to have a big baby!? PS, my son born at 38 weeks, would have been 9 to 10 lbs in another week or two! I delivered early because of this happening. Congratulations
