Having exalted the name of Jesus before the Jewish rulers, the apostle Peter concluded, “…nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” – (Acts 4:12). Years later, the apostle Paul, having spoken of Jesus’ death on our account to the Philippian brethren, penned, “Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” - (Philippians 2:9-11).

    As the song goes…..

    “Jesus, name above all names,

    Beautiful Saviour, glorious Lord;

    Emmanuel, God is with us,

    Blessed Redeemer, Living Word.”

Jesus Christ is THE pivot of History. Positioned at both beginning and end as the Alpha and Omega, and central to the destiny of every soul through the ages, He alone is worthy of the Name above all other names. As Deity made flesh I want here to present the One and Only, Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Jesus asked the religious leaders of his day the following question:

“What do you think about the Christ? Whose Son is He?” (Matt 22:42 NKJV)

Jesus asked this question of men in his generation. The same question is asked of us today. Matthew 16, Mark 8 and Luke 9 also record a similar question that Jesus asked of His disciples:

“But who do you say that I am?”

This is the universal question upon which the destiny of each soul depends. The subject of this post is not just a doctrine to be leaned, or a history to be admired, but “The Christ, the Son of the Living God”. Like Peter, and all who have come after him, we need afresh the Father’s grace to reveal to us the Person of Jesus.

“Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.” (Matt 16:17 NKJV)

It is upon this unchanging and irreplaceable rock of revelation alone that a man can begin to build a life of authentic spirituality and eternal purpose.

    added:

“And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.” (Matt 16:18 NKJV)

But the Jesus that the Scriptures call Wonderful, Counsellor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. That’s the Jesus I want to see and know. That’s the Jesus I want to make known to others.

Jesus Christ the Messiah, the Anointed One – the fairest of ten thousand.

The incomparable incomprehensible gracious loving holy powerful Jesus of the gospels.

The Healer of the brokenhearted, opener of blind eyes, Jesus.

The good news to the poor, Jesus.

I marvel that so many Christians sing this song of praise and yet fail to understand the significance of the Name of Jesus. Every attribute we read in this song describes are those we ascribe to God Almighty. Jesus IS the Mighty God in Christ and beside Him there is no other! When Jesus said, "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the NAME of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:" Matt. 28:19 should there not be a plurality of NAMES to match the plurality of persons? There isn't because there is only one Name to be baptized in and that is the NAME of JESUS!!!

    The Christ. Jesus.

Some preachers would have us believe that the Spirit of the Father is the first person of the Eternal Godhead, and that the Spirit of Jesus Christ is the second person of the Eternal Godhead, and that the Holy Spirit is the third person of the eternal Godhead, but unfortunately for them, that JUST IS NOT SO.

God is not composed of three eternal spirits.

Jesus Christ did not come to this earth with only one person out of three dwelling in Him. No, sir!

The fact stands that Jesus Christ is the incarnation of the only One Lord, One God and One Supreme, Sovereign Deity.

In Him dwelled all the fullness of God BODILY!

I John 5:7 says, "There are three that bear record in Heaven,"

    There are three what?

Three persons? No. IT DOES NOT SAY THAT!

Three deities? No, it does NOT SAY THAT!

God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost? NO! It doesn’t say that either.

It says that there are three that bear record in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost.

And it emphatically declares: THESE THREE ARE ONE!

The Father IS the Word. The Word IS the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost IS the Father.

Jesus Christ is the invisible Father robed in flesh.

Jesus is the fullness of God come down from Heaven to earth.

Thomas called Him, "My Lord, and my God." That is a doctrinal statement for a Jew who only believed in the Father.

Stephen saw the glorified Son of Man standing at the right hand of the Father, but John saw that same man sitting down ON the throne, and in Revelation 22:1 he called it the throne of "God AND the Lamb."

Jesus is both the Shepherd and the Sheep. He is both the King and the Prince. He is both the Father as Spirit, and Son as Man. One Lord. Two natures. One God. Spirit and Human.

    Regards,

    Gary

One Father God, His Son Jesus and the Spirit of God, the Holy Spirit. Matt.19:16-17 shows us God's nature. He left the Holy Spirit here to guide and teach us but is not to be worshiped.

The Father is the only true God (John 17:3; 1 Corinthians 8:6). Accordingly, if Jesus is a "distinct person in the Godhead" from God the Father, then He is not God at all, because the Father is the only true God. If He IS God, then the deity of Jesus is none other than God the Father Himself.

The Holy Spirit is both the "Spirit of God" and the "Spirit of Christ" (Romans 8:9 with 1 Peter 1:11-12). Indeed the Holy Spirit is refered to as the "Spirit of the Father" (Mark 13:11; Luke 12:12 with Matthew 10:20). There is only one Spirit, not two (Ephesians 2:18; Ephesians 4:4), and definitely not three. Indeed, the apostle Paul likened God's Spirit with the spirit of man: "For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God" (1 Corinthians 2:11). A man's spirit is not a "separate" or "distinct person" from himself, and neither is the Spirit of God a "distinct person" from God Himself. Jesus, speaking of the Holy Spirit, said "I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you" (John 14:18). The "another Comforter" is not some other person besides Jesus; it is the Spirit of Jesus Christ Himself (John 14:16).

The FULNESS of the Godhead dwells in Jesus in bodily form (Colossians 2:9). Jesus is "God manifest in the flesh" (1 Timothy 3:16), not part of God, not a second person who is also called God. God has one revealed name in which the fulness of all His attributes are revealed: "in that day shall there be one LORD, and his name one" (Zechariah 14:9). All of God's attributes are revealed in the one name - Jehovah-Shall-Save - or JESUS. Every divine work of God can be summed up in His work of salvation. The apostles fulfilled the command to baptize "in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost" by baptizing "in the name of Jesus Christ" (Matthew 28:19; Acts 2:38). Note that no other proper name for God besides JESUS is revealed in the New Testament.

Trinitarianism is an attempt to impose the philosophies of men onto the text; Oneness allows the text to simply speak for itself.

Scripture is quite plain on this. It states over and over that God is one. (Deut. 6:4 and many others). It also states that God is one Spirit (John 4:24; Eph. 4:4).

Scripture never mentions persons in the Godhead or even suggests such a thing.

The one Spirit of God (Holy Spirit) caused Mary to conceive (Matt. 1:18-20) and was therefore the Father of Jesus. That same Spirit came to dwell in the body of His son, so that now ALL the fullness of God dwelt bodily in Jesus. (2 Cor. 5:19; Col. 2:9)

Jesus is identified as the Father in flesh: Is. 9:6; John 14:8-9

Jesus is identified as the Creator: John 1:1-3

Jesus is identified as the I AM: John 8:58

Jesus is identified as the Comforter who would come: John 14:16-18

Father, Son and Holy Ghost are never defined as separate persons in God as some teach. Rather, these are titles of the one God. In Matthew 28:18-19, Jesus stated that He had ALL authority in heaven and earth, and that because of this, His disciples were to baptize all nations in the NAME of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. But we find that when the apostles obeyed this command, they never once repeated those titles. They clearly understood that Jesus was speaking of one name, and that name was His own. (Compare the Great Commission as recorded in Luke 24:47.) In every case, the apostles baptized using ONLY the name of Jesus (Acts 2:38; Acts 8:16; Acts 10:48; Acts 19:5; Acts 22:16. See also Acts 4:12 and Col. 3:17).

Clearly, the apostles understood that Jesus was the one God in flesh, not 1/3rd of God and not one person in the Godhead.

To answer you, I believe that God is ONE & that Father, Son & Holy Ghost are three MANIFESTATIONS (not persons) of God.

    . . . Father

God is a Spirit (John 4:24). He is the Eternal One, the Creator of all things, and the Father of all humanity by creation.

He is the First and the Last, and beside Him there is no God (Isaiah 44:6).

There was no God formed before Him; neither shall there be after Him (Isaiah 43:10).

    . . . Son

Jesus is the Son of God according to the flesh (Romans l:3) and the very God Himself according to the Spirit (Matthew 1 :23). Jesus is the Christ (Matthew 16:16); the Creator of all things (Colossians 1:16-17); God with us (Matthew 1:23); God made flesh (John 1:1-14); God manifested in the flesh (I Timothy 3:16; He which was, which is, and which is to come, the Almighty (Revelation 1:8); the mighty God, everlasting Father, and Prince of peace (Isaiah 9:6).

Jesus Himself testified of His identity as God when He said, "He that hath seen me hath seen the Father" (John 14:7-11) and "I and my Father are one" (John 10:30).

It took shedding of blood for the remission of the sins of the world (Hebrews 9:22), but God the Father was a Spirit and had no blood to shed. Thus He prepared a body of flesh and blood (Hebrews 10:5) and came to earth as a man in order to save us for in Isaiah 43:11 He said, "Beside me there is no Saviour." When He came in flesh the angels sang, "For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord" (Luke 2:11).

    . . . Holy Ghost

The Holy Ghost is not a third person in the Godhead, but rather the Spirit of God (the Creator), the Spirit of the resurrected Christ. The Holy Ghost comes to dwell in the hearts and lives of everyone who believes and obeys the gospel, as the Comforter, Sustainer, and Keeper (John 14:16-26; Romans 8:9-11).

Duet. 6:4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:

5 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

    Isaiah 44:24 – Thus saith the LORD, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the LORD that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself;

    (Revelation 10:5-7 / 14:6-7)

Joel 2:27 – I am the LORD your God, and none else:

Isaiah 45:5-6 – I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me...there is none beside me. I am the LORD, and there is none else.

Isaiah 43:10-11 - ...Thus saith the LORD...I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be another formed after me. I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour.

Isaiah 40:3, 5 – Prepare ye the way of the LORD, and the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together:

    (Matthew 3:1-3 & Revelation 1:7-8)

Isaiah 9:6 – For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called WONDERFUL, COUNSELLOR, THE MIGHTY GOD, THE EVERLASTING FATHER, THE PRINCE OF PEACE.

    (Exodus 15:2-3, 6)

Isaiah 7:14 – they shall call Christ's name Immanuel.

Matthew 1:23 - ...they shall call Christ's name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, GOD WITH US.

    (Mark 14:62)

Genesis 1:1 – In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

    (Genesis 1:27-31 / 2:1-3 & Matthew 26:64)

Colossians 1:16 – For by JESUS were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth...

John 1:1-5, 9-12, 14 – In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. That Word was the true light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. He who was that light was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. He came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

One Lord manifest in Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

"Before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour" (Isaiah 43:10-11).

"I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God" (Isaiah 44:6).

"Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any" (Isaiah 44:8).

"I am the LORD that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself" (Isaiah 44:24).

"There is none beside me. I am the LORD and there is none else" (Isaiah 45:6).

"There is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me. Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else" (Isaiah 45:21-22).

"Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me" (Isaiah 46:9).

"I will not give my glory unto another" (Isaiah 48:11; see also Isaiah 42:8).

"O LORD of hosts, God of Israel, that dwellest between the cherubims, thou art the God, even thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth: thou hast made heaven and earth" (Isaiah 37:16).

"Seeing it is one God which shall justify" (Romans 3:30).

"There is none other God but one" (I Corinthians 8:4).

"But to us there is but one God, the Father" (I Corinthians 8:6).

"But God is one" (Galatians 3:20).

"One God and Father of all" (Ephesians 4:6).

"For there is one God" (I Timothy 2:5).

"Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble" (James 2:19).

A common remark by some trinitarians about the Old Testament doctrine of the oneness of God is that God only intended to emphasize His oneness as opposed to pagan deities, but that He still existed as a plurality. However, if this conjecture were true, why did not God make it clear? Why have the Jews understood not a theology of "persons" but have insisted on an absolute monotheism? Let us look at it from God's point of view. Suppose He did want to exclude any belief in a plurality in the Godhead. How could He do so using then-existing terminology? What strong words could He use to get His message across to His people? When we think about it, we will realize that He used the strongest possible language available to describe absolute oneness. In the preceding verses of Scriptures in Isaiah, we note the use of words and phrases such as "none, none else, none like me, none beside me, alone, by myself," and "one." Surely, God could not make it plainer that no plurality whatsoever exists in the Godhead. In short, the Old Testament affirms that God is absolutely one in number.

God demands a monotheistic worship of Him. We in the church are heirs of Abraham by faith, and this exalted position demands that we have the same monotheistic faith in the God of Abraham (Romans 4:13-17). As Christians in the world we must never cease to exalt and declare the message that there is only one true and living God.

There is one God, who has revealed Himself as our Father, in His Son Jesus Christ, and as the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ is God manifested in flesh. He is both God and man. (Deuteronomy 6:4; Ephesians 4:4-6; Colossians 2:9; I Timothy 3:16)

In Genesis 2:7 details how God created man. It says he created a 1) body from the elements of the earth, breathed into it from his own 2) spirit and the results was a 3) living soul. So man was made as a three-fold being.

Each part touches is called by a different "name", touches a different realm (physical, mental, spiritual), is subject to different rules (such as gravity does not affect you imagination, thoughts can not touch the objects in the physical realm) made of a different substance, and serves a different purpose. Your Mind is not your body or your spirit. yet each is just as much "you" as the others. Together the three "natures/beings" form one "you"

You God also appears in the three realms where man lives. He is God the Father in the spiritual/heavenly realm, he is God the Son when he appeared on earth in human form as Jesus, and he is God the Holy Spirit when he dwells within the hearts/minds of man. Each has a different name, serves a different purpose, and touches a different realm. The Father is not the Son or the Holy Spirit. and yet each is just as much "God" as the others. Together the three "natures/.beings" form one "God".

When Genesis 1:26 records God as saying "Let US make man in OUR image", he was talking about making man - like himself - a three fold being that exist as a "person" in the physical, mental and spiritual realm, just like God does.
