As philosophers, they explored problems rather than inventing. Socrates is generally associated with the Socratic Method, which essentially means questioning people about their beliefs or assertions to bring out hidden problems or assumptions. Socrates was not trying to prove his own ideas so much as trying to expose the weakness in logic behind the beliefs of others, which probably explains why he eventually made himself so unpopular he was executed.
Plato is associated largely with the Theory of Forms, which essentially is the belief that the objects in this world exist as imperfect replications of their ideal forms.
Aristotle explored many different areas and wrote on a broad range of subjects. He is regarded as having built the foundation for later philosophic examination of physics, ethics, biology, politics, and several other topics.

Philosophers don't discover things, they put forward ideas and ways of investigation on a variety of issues and subjects.
