Neglected cat.- skinny, dirty, smelly!, cute :)?

Hey. today during my work experience at the vets. a lady brought in a very old cat she found at the front of her house.

anyway. coz it wasnt microchipped the cat was to be put down.

anyway... so i said id keep it. . . im 17 and my aunt and uncle were okay with it.

anyways. its a she. the vet checked her over. no flea's, they reckon shes 15 plus

anyways. since having her home. she hasnt eaten much. and i have to feed it to her. and she is randomly shaven in some places (yes. its definitly been shaved) but i cant get over how skinny she is.. she is literrally skin and bones

she is white. but she has muddy paws and a muddy face.

and she sleeps alot.

and drinks alot of water.

i dont want to give up on her. i got her wormed and got her a flea collar and different types of food.

i dont know what i can give to her to make her fatten up. or how long it will take for her to get used to me..

well right now she is sleeping next to me on the couch and she knows how to use a kitty litter..

who knows. ive advertised her everywhere, maybe someones looking for her right now.

anyways. i just need tips. the vet said dont put her outside. coz she is so fragile.

i have another cat also and he wont really go near her.. im not sure why. will that fade?

any tips would be awesome guys. thanks.

Patience, grasshoppa. Just give her everything she needs and let her fill out into her new surroundings. Shaving could indicate surgery or IVs/shots etc, which could be the reason she's so small.

You didn't mention how long ago this was so I'm going to assume it's very recent. The stress from being that skinny, being in a new situation and the possibility of recent medical treatment all add up.

I just had my cat of 13 years pass away. She was unable to eat towards the end and pretty much wasted away before we put her down. The best advice I can give you is be vigilant, be patient and always put the cat first. Hopefully she shows major improvement in the next couple weeks, being in a home as opposed to outside, but if it gets to the point where she's in pain or can't keep food down then you'll have to be open to the idea of... well, you know. 15+ is very old for a cat.

You have the opportunity to give her a happy home for the rest of her days, good luck. As for the current cat, you never know. You just never know. Might take a while for them to get used to eachother, especially if your cat is old too. Dunno how well he'll take some scruffy old biddy encroaching on his turf, but hopefully it will be fine.

    Good luck!

Get her on a good diet, and limit her activity for a while and she should gain a little fat/muscle. You're doing everything right so far, just to get her some toys when she gets better.

Also, you can clean her fur with unscented baby wipes.

umm feed it the right amount, keep giving it treats. Don't keep feeding her because she could throw up , just keep feeding her she will fatten up like my cat :)
