Do Christians really favor a Fundamentalist state over the semi-secular one we have now?

It seems that whenever politics comes up in R&S, Christians invariably want the U.S. to be a Christian state (or claim it already is), and Atheists want it completely secular. I don't think we'll ever completely remove religion from the equation, but why try to promote a religious agenda within politics? You can't force everyone to belong to the same faith, or have the same beliefs? Do you really think you have the right or responsibility to even try to force it on an unwilling population?

What's wrong with a little prayer that mentions Jesus at schools, offices and courts of law? Shouldn't we want total war in the middle east if not for the second coming, for at least their oil and to convert the Moslems? I'd like to see music and television that reflects family values...not sex and drugs.

I'm not sure all Christians want a fundamentalist state. What we would like from government are some sort of assurances that our children will be able to grow up in a family-friendly world where morals and standards are valued and crime is not. Where people are encouraged to get along. Where we are free to worship as we choose.

Everyone wants a theocracy if it's based on their own theology.

I want a Catholic theocracy. We'll force all the protestants to pray the Hail Mary, recognize Papal authority, and give homage to saints. See if they still want a theocracy after that.

Most Christians just want to be sure that the right of Freedom of Religion is left in tact. We also know that their is no such thing in the constitution as "separation of church and state" which is just a tactic to have Christians sit down rather than stand up. If you knew our history, you would know beyond the shadow of any doubt that this nation was founded by primarily Christian people.
